Poured from a tap into a pint glass at San Diego Brewing Company in San Diego, Calif. Color was dark brown. Light on the film on the sides of the glass, heavy on the lacing on top of the beer.

Smelled with hints of nuts, malts, coffee, caramel and chocolate.

Decent taste. Flavors included nuts, caramel and toffee. Fairly smooth beer.

High carbonation. Small feel of cream soda on the tongue.

Not a bad beer overall. I’d order it again. Nutty would best describe the beer.

On tap at the brewpub

A - Poured a brown color with a thin off white head that leaves lacing behind

S - Has a light nose with some roast and nuttiness to it

T - Follows the nose with light roasted malts with some nuttiness in the flavor

M - This beer has a medium body with medium carbonation to it

O - This is your basic brown ale here nothing mind blowing but it is a drinkable beer yet another safe bet to get on a visit here

On tap at San Diego Brewing Company.

A: Dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small beige head.

S: Caramel and biscuit with toasted bread and a decided nuttiness. Hops are faint and earthy. The beer is lightly sweet, and it gives the impression of balance.

T: Toasted biscuit malt with a restrained nuttiness and a light caramel presence. Bitterness is at an upper low level, and the beer is moderately sweet. The finish is smooth and biscuity.

M: Lower medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Mouthfeel is sticky and very smooth.

Overall: A well done American Nut Brown. Just the thing to soothe my palate after the alcohol inferno of Manzanita Chaotic IIPA.

On tap at San Diego Brewing Company.

Dark brown in color with minimal tan head. Smells of malts, caramel and a hint of toastiness. Tastes mildly sweet, big notes of roasted malts and hazel nuts with undertones of caramel, brown sugar and hops. Very smooth and has a nice nutty aftertaste. Not overtly complex, but a good mix of earthy flavors make this very tasty. Not one of the best brown ales, but it’s not bad either.

Poured on-tap at the San Diego Brewing Co brewpub. The beer was poured into a pint glass, and presented with a deep, dark brown color, with a ring of very light head. Toffee and hazelnut smell on the nose. The beer is sweet, with coffee undertones. It has a very smooth and full, rounded body. Very sweet, nutty finish to the brew, with a crisp end. Very tasty beer.

On-tap at SDBC

A: The pour is a dark amber color bordering on brown with very little in terms of head.

S: The nose is sweet with a bit of nuttiness, but not quite as much as you might expect. Good caramel notes along with some toffee.

T: The flavor seems a bit off, perhaps a touch sour. Otherwise, however, mediocre brown ale flavors at best: bit of caramel, toasted malt, nuts, and toffee.

M: The body is medium and there's a slightly creamy feel on the tongue.

D: The sourness in the flavor really threw me off and sort of drug the overall impression of the beer down. I don't think this would be an amazing brown ale either way, but certainly a bit better.

A - Bourbon colored, off white head, cling lace.

S - Nutty, malty, come coffee.

T - Rich flavors, matching the smell of nuts, coffee and malt.

M - Medium body, great balance, good coating and carbonation.

D - A bit much for session. So much flavor, could get tiresome.
