On tap at Callahan's, San Diego. Served in an 11(?) oz. snifter.
Unsure if this is a new rotating release from SD Brewing Co., or a one-off.
Pours an opaque matte-black color. Nice thick dark tan head that's a bit rocky at first. Eventually it turns to a tan film. Great aroma of roasted malts, coffee, some sugar, and a bit of cream. Heavy flavor of roasted malts, with some dark chocolate and coffee. A bit of hop bitterness at the finish, and the some sugar in the aftertaste. Medium- to heavy-bodied. My only real complaint is that there's a bit too much carbonation - it takes away a bit from the flavor and the smoothness, but it tends to let up after a while (or I got used to it). Seems strong in alcohol, but it doesn't show up in the taste or make it difficult to drink. Really excellent offering!

A buddy of mine got this over the weekend. Happy to say it was well stored and still good on Thursday.
A - Near black, Nice tan head, leaves slowy, LOTs of cling lace.
S - Roasty, malty, coffee and chocolate are pronounced.
T - Up front flavors imitate smell, but lingering flavors add booze and sharper cocoa , bitter chocolate flavor... Nice. Just a tad more watery than would be ideal.
M - Medium body, good balance and carb. Nice flavors. Just short of really good.
D - High ABV and very coating, lingering flavors. Not for the session.
