Major props to Huhzubendah for sharing this. Thanks Matt

Pours a reddish brown color with a nice off white head. Great lacing on my new Belgium glass. Freakin' amazing nose! Wow.... Funk, Cherry, raspberry, barnyard smells.. Perfect. Holy crap. The taste is perfect. I honestly can't think of anything that can improve here. Unbelievable taste, and feel. Feel is super smooth, acidic fruit, and gobs of taste. Wow... Overall, this is the perfect beer for the style. Unbelievable .. Thank you Matt!!

Surprisingly solid head (1 1/2 fingers) of bubbly and firm light tan, almost white color. Brew is the expected reddish-brown cloudy hue. Head retention is very good. Little to no lacing.

Aroma of vinegar is immediate. Some light funk, oak and vanilla, and musty wheat. Very delicate and complex behind the sourness.

Flavor is initially much more mellow than the aroma, leading with soft tannins and a flowery sweetness that lingers. The sourness is more of a middle and end flavor, and hits the back of the throat hard. Slightly nutty, with dark fruits and grapes. Slightly musty yeast feel, with almost no funk flavor.

That aforementioned back-throat sourness is a little harsh, but other than that, the feel is smooth and velvety, right in the middle between gulp thin and chew thick. Decent amount of sting.

I'd have to have them all in the same sitting, but this might be the tastiest Rodenbach I've had yet (compared to '09 and Grand Cru). Feel and flavor are just phenomenal.

A: Dark orange-brown colour, almost no head

S: loads of tart, the oak comes through, hints of sour cherries.

T: pretty much the same as the smell, just a little bit more outspoken and that is a good thing. In the end there is some sweetness that shouldn't be there.

M: medium body (rare for this style of beer), high carbonation, some alcohol

O: excellent example of this style, great taste, great body, if there is one thing I like less about this style of beer, it is that it tends to be too thin, this overcomes that. Not bad for a five year old beer.

750ml split and poured into a snifter. Best by 09/08/13 per bottle.

A: Pours a hazy light ruby brown with a minimal white head that quickly fleets to the edges of the glass. Some specs of lacing. Not much visible carbonation.

S: Oaky and sweet fruits hit right off the bat. Cherry and strawberry come to mind. Reminiscent of a sour candy there is a good deal of tart sharpness.

T: Very smooth, rich and complex flavor. Blended very nicely it has the characteristic flanders red flavor with a bit more sweetness and oak. Sour is there but wont overpower the taste. More oak flavor than the standard Rodenbach, Cherry comes through the most fruit wise.

M: Low carbonation, medium body with a clean finish. Makes you pucker up a bit but doesn't leave the tongue too dry.

Overall a very smooth and delicious beer. Astonishingly more developed the regular Rodenbach. If you are fortunate to still find a bottle give this one a go. Oak is the standout in this beer.
