Poured into a tulip.

4.0 A: Fairly clear deep amber brown color. Two fingers of creamy/frothy off-white head. Retention is about average and a small ring of lacing is left.

4.5 S: Both a big sweetness and a big sourness at the same time and both manifest as cherry. Balsalmic vinegar, some cidery notes, and berries galore. Fruity lactic funk. Vanilla and oak. Very nice.

4.5 T: Loads of cherries - tart and sweet. Mixed berry, Balsalmic vinegar, fruity and tangy lactic acid. Vanilla galore with oak mixed in. This brew gives a great balance. Not overly sour like some reds, but sour enough to hit the spot.

4.0 M: Medium body. Carbonation is nice and spritzy, though I could use just a touch more. Good creaminess and super smooth.

4.5 D: Really great beer. I'll have to be sure to not overlook this one in the future.

Deep red color that looks beautiful with some light behind it and comes with a thick white foamy head. Steady carbonation bubbles flow. Fruit aroma, and you can smell the tartness

Rodenbach is sour and tart. Leaves your mouth begging for more. Abundant sweetness, but not candy sweet - more like sour cherry sweet. The dry finish is perfect.

Light/medium mouthfeel, but very thirst quenching and crisp, crisp, crisp.

Rodenbach is my ultimate standby. Always have some ready to serve. It's cheap, readily available, and nearly the best sour available.

Found this beer sitting untouched on a shelf in a supermarket chain of all places. I had never had Flanders Red before so this was my introduction into the world of Belgian Sours, and what an introduction it was.

A: Poured from a 750ml bottle into a goblet. Pours a deep, opaque reddish color with a huge off-white head.

S: Smells very fruity and slightly tart, with some funky and spicy smells as well. Almost wine-like.

T: Sour at first, with a sour cherry and slightly vinegary flavor. The more I sip, the more I taste dark fruit flavors (date and fig-like) beneath the tartness, in addition to vanilla and spice. Finishes very dry.

M: Pretty light bodied, with a prickly carbonation, alot of bubbles hitting the tongue, which amplifies the dryness.

O: Mother of God, this beer is unlike anything I've ever tasted. Tart, complex and simply amazing. I feel the need to drink more sours other than fruit lambics after drinking this beer.

Drank from my Duvel Tulip

A - Nice clear deep dark Ruby Red colour with an off White large bubbled head that redeuces to a thin film.

S - Very bold Oak aromas, some faint boiled cherries lollies, vineous.

T - Oh yeah. The oak hits you straight away, and the sour tartness on the end so very well balanced with cheery sweetness. The vineus flavours are balsamic like, also some dry white wine flavours to enjoy

M - Light to medium body with full carbonation.

O - Superb.
