Notes/Commercial Description:
Formerly Strong Porter

Dark, malty, chocolaty, great hop aroma; all can be said of Six Row's Strong Porter. Strong because of the increased alcohol content, hop bitterness and aroma. The Strong Porter was brewed with authentic English malt alongside Black and Chocolate malt to add complexity. The deepness of the malt is complimented by East Kent Goldings and Fuggle hops to balance the slight sweetness typical of traditional English Porters.

look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance: Arrives pitch black, with a foamy tan head capping the liquid and leaving plenty of lacing action behind

Smell: Chocalately and roasty, with a hint of earthy hop

Taste: Chocolate and black bread, up front, with a bit of earthy hop character arriving in the middle; the finish contains plenty of roast to offset the hop bill

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A very nice robust porter that is a bit of a cross between the American and English styles

Pours out really dark with two fingers of tan suds. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is light but there is a raisiney smell with slight chocolate/coffee hints. NO alcohol detected here.
Taste is mild but everything is here. You have the coffee bitterness with the chocolate/charred malts and the raisin finish.
Mouthfeel is very clean for a porter but this is a 4.9%er so that probably explains that.
Overall I would give this a 3.75 but my choice is the 4.
Looking forward to more from this brewery.

A: pours a deep brown color with a decent tan head and nice lacing.

S: Rich aroma of roasted malt, chocolate with some coffee and bit of dark fruit.

T: Taste is a nice mixture of roasted malt and chocolate. There is some traces of coffee with a mild bitterness and a dry finish.

F: Medium body, smooth with a nice creamy texture. Flavor seems enhanced as it warms.

O: Quite enjoyable, Nice Porter from a local brewer.

Pours a dark brown color. 1/3 inch head of a pale tan color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of roasted malt, sweet malt, slight hop, and yeast. Fits the style of an English Porter. Mouth feel is smooth and slightly creamy with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, slight sweet malt, slight hop, yeast, and slight hint of citrus. Overall, a good body, blend, and mouth feel.

Served this English style porter on tap at the Brewery in a pint glass. It pours a dark brown color, tan head, very good retention and excellent lacing left behind. The aroma consists of roasted malt, caramel, and toffee. The taste of the Porter is medium in body, smooth, creamy very nice mouth feel. Very nice session beer and a nice example of the style.

Also, on tap at 44 Stone, Columbia.

A - Poured an opaque, jet black color with a small, light brown head. It had okay retention but left very little lacing.

S - It smelled roasty with a touch of coffee and chocolate.

T - Nice roasted malt flavor with chocolate and toffee flavors. There is a nice bitter bite from the hops.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - This is a pretty tasty porter. Nice to get to try more Six Row beers.

Dark brown in color. Finger and a half head with excellent retention and plenty of lacing.

Dark aroma of chocolate and smoked wood.

Flavors are complex with plenty of smooth milky chocolate, smoked maple and roasted almonds. It also has a descent hop character as well with floral notes. Good malt/hop balance.

Medium bodied with plenty of carbonation. Smooth texture and finish.

Overall, a solid porter. Tasty and complex.

Solid Porter. Period!

A: Dark. Like cola dark. Some tan head.

S: Chocolate malt..inviting as hell. Coffee.

T: Follows the nose, but, add a nice little hop kick at the back end. Can't identify the hops, but, it's bright, refeshing kick.

M: The little hop kick cleans up the malty sweetness. Body not as heavy as a stout..which I think is cross breeding with porters these days.

D: Took a growler with me. have it sitting here in a tulip glass ( yeah, I know...), and I'm just really enjoying this beer. Seems as it warms, the chocolate really pops more.

This "strong" porter (abv under 5% does NOT fit the bill) pours the famous opaque dark brown/black, tan head floats gently on top the standard shaker pint glass.

Malty aroma with tidbits of chocolate - a sip adds a touch of burnt toast to the mix. If I concentrate, a suggestion of sour ale appears in the finish. Very smooth and drinkable porter, a fairly light body puts this one in session status, and that's a fine thing to have in a brew.

But "strong"? Com'on man, ramp it up to +7% range to make that assertion!
