The Reprieve is a traditional french Saison. The Saison is a summer beer, traditionally brewed in the winter to be enjoyed as the weather warms. The style is quite popular now in the states where initially homebrewers, then microbrewers, pulled the near extinct style from the brink. Like most complex tasting things, the recipe’s ingredient list is very thin. This hazy offering has a mild apple or pear taste, with a light citrus sharpness. The lingering sweetness is almost honey in character and the flavor is complex.

Bottle purchased from Green’s on Ponce in Atlanta.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a white head leaving solid lacing.

Smells of light malts with good amounts of medium fruits – pears and green apples – with hints of leafy hops.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Crisp light malt flavors up front with soft medium fruit flavors midway through. The fruits fade near the end and leafy hops round things out. The ending is mildly bitter. Mouthfeel is good, with solid carbonation.

Overall I was a fan of this beer but no one thing really knocked my socks off. Another solid effort from Jailhouse, I look forward to the next in the series.

Many thanks to Ahlthe3rd (Hugh) for the chance to taste this one. Poured from bottle into Jester King Farmhouse Ale glass. Pours a very light cloudy yellow color, thick tight white foam bubbles. They dissipate over time, leaving a little lacing on the glass. Smell- coriander, orange peel, herbaceous spices, lemon zest. Some nice citrus notes from the hops. Nice aroma. Taste- cracked pepper, lemon citrus, champagne dryness, a light airy saison. The carbonation makes this a bit stingy, but its on par for other good examples of the style. This is a pretty solid Saison- light and airy, I really like it for the low (relative) ABV too. I would have this one again- a very nice brew.

Hazy golden body with a mild white head.

The profile on this beer is fairly mild and balanced. It's got that typical Saison funk, but subdued. Clean and refreshing on the palate. A nice approachable zestiness. I've come to associate lingering aftertastes with most saisons; this one (thankfully) doesn't have that. Sort of reminded me of a Belgian Pale with a fairly round taste.

It's exactly as advertised on the bottle - refreshing. Nothing particularly amazing. Just a straight-forward, well-made beer.

Purchased at Hop City is Atlanta on a recent trip. Poured into a wine glass. Pours a clear, straw, with a tight white head that drops slowly. Lots of champagne bubbles.

Aromas of spicy peppery yeast, grainy malt, and leafy hops.

Flavors of grainy malt, good peppery yeast bite, mild bitterness. Finish light, with biscuity grains and yeast lingering.

Mouthfeel is refreshing, light, and thirst quenching. Good level of carbonation.

Overall a very nice effort for my first try from this brewery. Nice job!

I do enjoy me a good Farmhouse saison, so let's hope this is good, thanks to cpinto6.

Pours a fast rising huge 3+ finger pasty white fizzy head that fades semi quickly but not as fast as I expected, lots of spotted lacing, initial pour (sans sediment) yields a crystal clear pilsner straw color. I was only able to stir up the slightest haze with almost no sediment surprisingly.

Nose starts a little floral and effervescent, lemony straw and hay, grassy, citrusy, light sweet malts with hint of wheat like character, light saison spices, hint of a grassy hop character I think as well.

Taste starts crisp and quite straw like, almost German pilsner like, with light sweet malts, a little wet hay and some farmhouse characters but not much for funk, and just a bit of wheat again. The straw characters really go strong and turn a bit grassy, and that's when the grassy slightly earthy spicy hops kick in with a med to milder bitterness but enough to let you know they are there. Light saison spices in the middle, with plenty of citrus, little lemon zest, lemon grass, and just a hint of orange peel citrus. Finish is drier but sticky, lingering straw and hay malts, little more farmhouse with hint of funk, lots more citrus, lemon, grassy earthy hops and bitterness lingering.

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bodied, tons of effervescent carbonation.

Overall pretty good, a straight up saison with very little farmhouse funk but a nice malt profile and light but nice hop character, quite drinkable.

Bottle shared by Bobby. Thanks.

A: The pour is a pale and cloudy straw color with a finger of white head.

S: Like with their stout, there is a bit of diacetyl on the nose. Some mild spice, primarily pepper, with a bit of earthy hops. Light fruits (mostly apple), with some pale malts and bread.

T: Starts off with a bit of sweet malt and bread. Pears and apples give a bit of sweetness as well. A fair amount of yeast contribution such as pepper and spice. Just a bit of earthiness.

M: Light to medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: Surprisingly okay after the nose, which didn't excite me much.

Thanks to @Thehughbachi(via twitter) for this one. Had a bet my Bears would beat his Falcons.

App- A very light medium yellow with some lemony colors with soft golden wheat. A gigantic three finger head and took forever to fall to a medium marshmallow fluff color. A bit of nice cling and lace as well.

Smell- A very subtle spice with a strong yeast background. A little wheat with some lemon zest. A bit thick on the aromatics but still nice and pleasing. A little bit of earthy floral grass to round it out.

Taste- Again, subtlety reigns on this one. The yeast is the first to open on this one but not over peppery or spicy. A timid wheat note comes next with a small bit of earthiness and some grass. Its a bit floral to add a little bit of layer to the yeast.

Mouth- Lighter medium bodied with a lighter medium carbonation. A little bit of bubbly yeast with some small spices and earthiness.

Drink- A tasty saison with a bit thicker aromatics and flavors. aA semi-good balance with some soft lemon notes.
