Visited in the afternoon for some beer and cheese - the thing to do in Milwaukee!
Tap selection was pretty good - about 10 strong with a variety of styles and breweries. There were offerings from Lakefront, Central Waters, Sprecher, New Glarus and others. I had the CW Satin Solstice, which was very good. We also ordered a few cheese plates, which were EXCELLENT.
Service was friendly and knowledgeable and beer suggestions were given as well. I wish we had the time to go back but I was there on a short trip.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Milwaukee.

The other reviews on this bar are not very accurate. All of them describe a bar with around 10 taps, but that has not been the case since for the last two years that I've been stopping here once a month or so. The beer selection is marvelous with over 30 taps. All of the beer is from Wisconsin, and several are put on Nitrogen gas to give off an extra special creamy head. The service has always been spectacular. The bartenders knew me by name within the first few times I went, and their knowledge of Wisconsin beer is impressive. The beer and cheese tasting events with local breweries are a blast, but you can stop in and order a beer flight and a cheese plate anytime. The food basically consists of quality Wisconsin cheese, local made meats, and breads. Maybe not the most balanced meal, but how can you go wrong?

An easy walk to the basketball arena / Frontier Airlines center. It is a store with a wide array of cheeses, think local WI. As well as some random gifts, including foam cheese hats. And on the other side they have some tables and a bar. As others noted, the bar focuses on Wisconsin brewed beer such as New Glarus, Milwaukee Brewing, maybe another. Not a big tap list, but it is a shop focused on cheese, so it`s all good. Friendly servers and patrons will chat with you even if you are just a damn tourist. A perfect place, to compromise with a significant other who really likes cheese but does not want to go all the way to a "beer bar" with a large, boisterous crowd.

With the exception of the table of employees gathered in the bar, this place was very welcoming. The cheese selection was very good and we were offered a sample of Comte upon walking through the door.
The guy behind the counter helping us with our cheese selections was very kind, though a bit wired. We chose a half dozen or so selections to take with us to our hotel room.
The menu looked inviting and I would very much like to go back to try something. The beer selections were varied and some I have never encountered (not being from WI).
I could easily imagine passing a few hours here drinking quality craft beer (or something from the nice wine selection for my wife) and eat copious amounts of Wisconsin artisnal cheese.

Parking kinda sucks around here, but this was a really cool area-- too bad I could only find 1hour parking-- I could have hung out here all day (not necessarily HERE, but in this section of town!).
There are lots of cool places to check out on the street, and I only stumbled upon this place by way of recommendation from my GPS... I was looking for a cheese shop. The name seemed perfect.
The cheese was awesome. Lots of variety and lots of aged cheeses. The beer was a little less exciting, but it was cool to find a cheese shop serving beer. The beer was almost all WI breweries, and certainly all were year-round offerings.
The samples of cheese held my interest more than the tap handles did.
We stopped by about midday on a Saturday and the place had few other patrons. I would love to come back during an event or even on a busy Saturday night!

I've been here before, maybe six years ago, and remember how small it was before the expansion to include the "cheese bar".
Parking in this area can be a pain in the ass if there's an event going on. Had to park in a "loading zone" and ran in for a bit.
Quaint bare bones cheese shop up front, laid back bar/cafe around the corner. Taps were all WI focused, which was cool, but they were mostly pedestrian selections like Sprecher Amber, Spotted Cow, and Lakefront Wheat Monkey. In bottles there were the basic lineups from O'So, Furthermore, Central Waters, New Glarus, Capital, Sprecher, Lakefront, and "local" macros like Schlitz, Pabst, and Miller.
The bar itself looked to be new and consisted of a nice wood back bar, and hanging glassware racks. Inset in the back bar was a flatscreen tv, and there was ample table seating. Friendly bartender, and helpful staff in the cheese mart (morel jack cheese, score!). I love WI cheese, and found even more variety at Whole Foods in town, though they had a few things WFM didn't. Not a place i'd hang out though, worth having a beer if you're in the area for another reason I guess.

Went here one afternoon, I ordered a cheese plate, that was it, but it was extremely good cheese. There was no one in the store but me and my friends, it was mid afternoon though. But we got the bartender's full attention which was nice.
They have 4 taps, with wi brews, including one macro (schlitz) and spotted cow. They had maybe 30 different bottled WI micros and the typical array of WI macros. Generally the macros were all of the amber ales/amber lagers/ blonde ales, there were alot of notable brews left out, i think they had a full line of new glarus which was pretty much their highlight.
They serve the beer in chilled glasses if you don't tell them not to.
It is an okay place and good in conjunction with a trip to all the places on the street.

Stopped in here after the bucks game last night with a buddy.
When you first walk in to the left is a typical cheese/meat market. On the right is the actual bar. The market side is well lit and the bar side is low lit like a bar typically is. We noticed the tap handles first with Tyranena, Sprecher, Central Waters and New Glarus. The bottle selection was at least 50 deep with all the major Wisconsin breweries being represented.
The bartender grabbed us a couple Mudd puppy porters and handed us some menus. They have several different cheese and sausage flights that are paired with the proper Wisconsin beers. A handful of sandwiches plus cheeses plates and sausage plates as well as salads.
We ordered a couple sandwiches and a cheese curd platter. The food was good and reasonably priced.
The bartender was very friendly and chatted with us for most of our time there. We didn't ask any beer questions so I can't comment on her beer knowledge.
Overall a really unique place to have a local beer and some fine sconnie cheeses. I will be visiting again soon.
