From notes. Poured from bomber into a nonic pint glass
Appearance: Pours very dark and cola-like with a thin beige head.
Aroma: Smells very nice. Roasted malts hit the nose with traces of char. Sweet burnt caramel scents as well.
Taste: starts off with a smoky/char like flavor, I like it. However, the taste disappears rather quickly, none of the flavors linger as long as I would like and I get a sour-like taste towards the end of the drink.
Mouth-feel: thin to medium, a tad watery
Overall: I will admit this was my first beer from the brewery and my first English Dark Mild as well. I wasn't sure what to expect so I can't knock the beer for that. The aroma was the highlight for me, if it was replicated in the taste I would love this beer. I look forward to trying more from Eagle Rock, gotta support the LA area breweries!

Consumed April 13th, 2010 at Tony's Darts Away, Burbank CA.
Beer presents a clear, deep ruby with garnet highlights. One finger tan head that is very smooooth.
Odd, wild aroma. Musty, wheaty, sweet, some kind of light spice.
Slightly musty wood flavor. Caramel and chocolate (?!?) malt flavor: kind of porterlike. A bit on the thin side. An unusual, smoky flavor at the finish.
Didn't have any trouble finishing this beer, but I can't say I'm a fan.

A- very dark. Big frothy head.
S- the smell is very weak. Barely detect some coffee and malt. Not impressed.
T- lightly sweet caramel, some coffee, and malt. Very subtle.
M- for a stout, the mouthfeel is good. Smooth. Milky. Low carbonation.
O- this is a good session stout. Low alcohol. Very drinkable. But nothing remarkable here.

Served on-draught into a taster glass at Eagle Rock's tasting room yesterday. Reviewed from notes.
A: Pours a khaki colour head, one finger in thickness. Nicely creamy. Okay thickness. Average (~2 minute) retention.
Body colour is a dark rich amber. Opaque. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.
Sm: A bit of roast. Nice dark malts. Cream. No yeast or alcohol comes though. A moderate strength aroma.
T: Dark malts, cream, caramel. Tasty for the style. No yeast or alcohol comes through. Nicely balanced, but not complex or subtle. Enjoyable overall.
Mf: Smooth and wet. A bit creamy. Good thickness. Good body. Suits the flavour profile well.
Dr: Drinkable and enjoyable. I like it and would probably get it again at a good price. I definitely prefer the Vanilla Solidarity (and its nitro serving type), but this is above average for the style. Hides its ABV well. Unrefreshing.

Very dark brown in the pint shaker. Not quite a stout shade of black. Beige foam is an attractive topper. Light body but a mouthful of flavor. Not much aroma.
Black charred malt is the main feature. On the sourish side, and very grainy. More charcoal than malt. Pleasant sudsiness til the end.
I'm trying all of these low alcohol beers, which seem to be a nice experimental trend-- the search for great flavorful beers when you don't have time to sleep it off. Eagle Rock is doing a good job with the less powerful beers, but this is not one of my favorites. On tap at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach.

Draft to Taster
App- A very dark brown pour. A good mix of lights and browns toward the edges. A small ring of head bubbles but not a good deal of head or cling.
Smell- Fresh pressed coffee ground and a little bit of water and some dirt. Malty and grainular notes.
Taste- It's very light to say the least. The ABV @ 3.8 is really noticeable. Very thin water with some soft malts. A bit burnt roast flavors.
Mouth- A really light body and a high amount of carbonation. A good bit of residual coffee flavors.
Drink- This was strictly a style tick. Not a fan of the style. Its far too watery and light. I guess the profile just isnt for me.

A: Dark brown color with a pretty thick tan head.
S: Faded coffee, roasted malt and a bit of earth.
T: Day old coffee grounds, roasted malt and a touch of toffee with a slightly watery finish. Mouthfeel is definitely thin and a bit watery.
