On tap @ Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA. Poured into a tulip glass.

Not a huge fan of this beer. I have tried various Witbiers and know what i am getting into, but this one was so over carbonated, that i felt like i was drinking club soda. Flavors were very muted with lemon being the most prominent, but really i couldn't get over the yeast. I liked how it looked in the glass, but couldn't get over the mouthfeel to recommend it.

I was previously not a big fan of this beer compared to Revolution and Red Velvet. Stopped by the tap room and they are out of rotation with the Revolution. Tried the Manifesto-nitro and have been converted.

The lower carbonation let the flavor come through allowing the drinker to feel the balance. The mouth feel was creamier with a refreshing feel.

Very drinkable and a nice way to end a week. Great lesson in the difference of a nitro-tap.

Re-uploading my review after the server ate it (*sigh*).

On-tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Hollywood. Served in a generic tulip.

Pale straw, lightly hazy liquid with a small active off-white head which rapidly dissipates to a thin collar and then dissapears all-together. Average lacing.

Fresh bread dough, alfalfa, hints of rose water, and plenty of lemon zest aromatics. Very fresh and crisp.

Lemon, English cucumber, lactic tartness, with a yeasty white bread backbone. Flowery and floury finish with another touch of citrus. Very low spice notes, though the yeast could be a bit more robust. Excellent profile none the less.

Rather thin, though not excessively light-bodied. Very much lacking in effervescence though. Poor showing here compared to a true Belgian creation.

The mouthfeel inhibits the drinkability somewhat, but this ale is still very refreshing and sufficiently flavorful for the style.

Disclaimer: I'm not a witbier lover.

That said, this is a great beer. I find myself finishing the glass and wanting another right away.

It doesn't have all the finickiness of a regular Wit, but delivers on the great flavors that i am always looking for.

Light and refreshing, this is a beer worth seeking.

Go to the Eagle Rock Tasting room and get it fresh. Can't be beat.

Had this on tap at the brewery.

I'm not generally a big fan of wit beers -- many of the ones I've had have been too sweet, or overly spiced, or too yeasty. This one I enjoyed.

A: Cloudy pale blond. Poured with a thin head that vanished pretty quick.

S: The lemon peel they use it this really comes through in the nose, combined with the fruity esters of the belgian and saison yeasts.

T: The first thing that really struck me about this beer is that it had a lovely citrus like tartness to it. My first impression of the beer was that it reminded me almost more of a berliner weiss than a wit beer. The spice is very restrained and not a dominant force in the beer.

M: Well carbonated, although a little thin in the finish.

D: Had no problem putting back a pint, and the low alcohol (4.7% I think) ensures I could put back a good bit more.

Final verdict: A solid beer on its own, but traditional fans of Wit Beer may be a bit disappointed that it doesn't exactly follow style guidelines.

Consumed February 14th, 2012 at Tony's Darts Away, Burbank, CA.

Beer is slightly hazy golden with a very small white head.

Aromas of lemon, coriander and musty clove.

Flavor has plenty of banana, accented by powdery Belgian yeast.
Missing are all the zesty notes promised by the nose.

Somewhat dry on the finish but lacking in the liveliness that this style is known for.

A fairly weak effort, though not a disaster. Inoffensive.

On-tap at Blue Palms

A: Manifesto is a hazy, light golden color with a fluffy white head. There are tons of little carbonation bubbles.

S: A lot of citrus, particularly lemon and orange, yeast, and a bit of spice. There is also a nice bready quality to the aroma.

T: Much the same as the nose. A very refreshing hit of lemon, followed by the more hearty spice, bread, and yeast flavors. There's also a bit of tartness to this that I wasn't expecting.

M: The beer is very bubbly which gives it a nice light feel on the tongue. Quite enjoyable.

D: This is probably the easiest drinking witbier I've had. Nice and light but still some strong flavors. The slight tartness was reminiscent of a Berliner Weiss, but not quite to the same degree.

On tap at Stone's 15th Anniversary

A: Pale greenish color with a very thin off white head.

S: Sort of a funky wheat aroma with a touch of pale malt in the background.

T: The taste is very slow to develop. Eventually, a slight lemon and clove taste develops. My girlfriend said this beer tasted "murky" and, honestly, I can't think of a better way to put it.
