Stopped in here to check this place out while waiting for some other friends to catch up with a BA and I later (and go to Blue Palms)

The atmosphere of the bar is that of a hip Irish style pub, but one that is brand new. By that I mean in contrast to say an old world pub in Ireland, or one that is modeled to look like one, or some of the older ones in Hollywood, like Tom Bergins.

Anyhow, the wood finishing all over the bar, top to bottom is pretty inviting, as are the Waitress, whom are Scantily clad dressed, but that alone certainly won't bring me back here, but it also didn't hurt to have the eyecandy while sipping on a $3.00 pint of Racer 5 either.

For the abundance of taps, the selection was pretty lame. A lot of duplicate taps, and BMC. A few IPA's mixed in, but nothing worth making this a destination. However, the bar is comfortable, clean, and pretty cheap for the pints they do offer.

I only stopped in for 2 beers while I had some time to kill in the area, so I'll have to update when I have a chance to stay longer. Name another place in Los Angeles where you can get a pint of Stone IPA or Racer 5 for $3 at any time during the day or night? They don't have the best selection in the world, but you have to remember - not only is this LA, this is smack in the middle of the most commercial, touristy part of LA. They could easily only carry Guinness, Harp and Macros, charge $6 / pint and nobody would have blinked. The atmosphere is a bit stuffy, though plenty of TV's to go around. If you absolutely have to be on Hollywood Blvd (I try to avoid it like H1N1) and you don't feel like donating a small fortune for a few good beers, it's your only hope.

How can a place with 70 taps still suck? Welcome to Dillon's Irish pub on Hollywood and Vine. Its actually 35 taps x2, and BMC is well represented. They do have Racer 5, Stone IPA, and Sierra Nevada Pale ale. After that there is a major dropoff into the likes of Boddingtons and Bass.
There are two great things about this bar: $3 pints all the time, and hot waitresses. On a typical day the worst beer that Blue Palms has on tap will be better than the best beer offered at Dillons.
Lots of dark mahogany wood and plasma screens, about a dozen managers milling about, and an upstairs billiards area round it out.
Any Beer Geek would be well-advised to go 1/4 mile east on Hollywood Blvd and go to Blue Palms.
