Visited on a Tuesday evening for an early dinner. Place was slow when I arrived but busy when I left. Sat at the bar.
I would visit again.
A – An open, well lit, clean place. Numerous chalk boards for beer, wine, food specials and events calendar. An eclectic crowd. Young and old. Professional and non. But does not give off that craft beer feel like so many other places. The bottle shop/room has a table where you can sit, eat and drink and which can be used for special events. 3.75
Q – Kegs right close to the taps, so short lines. A variety of glassware to ensure proper container. Constant rotation of kegs. - 4
S – Bartender paid attention. Talked when I wanted to talk. Friendly. Knowledgeable. But no real table service. Order your food at the register and they deliver to the table. 4.25
S – A good assortment of beers on tap – local to Belgian, witbier to imperial stout, even a seasonal or two. Pliny on a regular basis but during my visit. Also a bottle shop for consumption on premises or to-go. A good selection there as well but could be a little more focused on the local stuff since there is so much of it and its good. 4.5
F – Menu is somewhat limited. Certainly the potential that you may not find something you like. Had the French dip for $9.75. A good amount of food on the plate. Maybe trying a bit too hard. A good sandwich but maybe a bit too fancy. Sometimes simple is the best. 3.75
V – Beer and food not excessively expensive but above the typical price point for some items. $$$

i love this place! i have spent plenty of days out on the patio, just enjoying a good beer and some beautiful weather. the bottle shop is a bit less varied than capital tap rooms, but you'll find stuff here that you won't find anywhere else. the rotating taps always provide a great selection, but sometimes it does get to be a bit of a wallet buster at the end of the night. they have good beers, so it's not like i'm not going to order one of everything on the menu, right? i like how the color code for happy hour, and provide the abv and pour size, but that seems to be becoming standard everywhere. maybe they started it?

I have a love hate relationship with Pangaea- The owner and the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful, they have one of the best beer selections in town, their food is good and I like the casual atmosphere, yet every time I visit what should be one of my favorite bars I find myself completely aggravated by their outrageous pricing.
I would love to be able to frequent this bar, but quite frankly can't justify going there when their prices are so far out of line for the local market. Their business seems to be doing well, so clearly some people find the prices reasonable, but I do hope that Pangaea will eventually either adjust their prices across the board, or at least offer some more reasonably priced options.

Great location with an excellent selection...and then there's gouge-worthy pricing.
Everything about Pangaea makes me like them - the stellar selection, the great bottleshop, the knowledgeable staff, the events. The interior is comfortable and conducive to community, with large, dark, thick wooden tables and a curving bar, and the cave-like bottleshop off to the side. The feeling is always comfortable, with a definite atmosphere of beer knowledge and of a place that knows what they are doing.
Their pricing is outrageous. Entirely out of line for the area; by comparison, they would be high in socal. Yes they get rare beers, and yes they know their product, but holy hell; they generally are 20-30% higher on any giver beer that you can find in the area. It's very unfortunate, because they turn off a lot of the local beer community simply because of this attitude.
I rate them high based on statistics alone. I wish I could speak better of them, but being blatantly gouged makes Pangaea difficult to recommend.

Great Bottle shop, but the prices are wayyyy off. Other then that great Joint.
Grabbed a bottle of 3F Golden Blend, Cost me 27$ for 365mls, WHAT!!, Bruery Oud Tart Cost me 25$ not bad but still a bit steep, I understand they have some extra tax they have to pay but still. Geez
Have no sat down and had anything on tap though I do know they have Pliny usually, some DFH and a large selection of Belgians/Sours
Definantly suggest trying them out. Love this , and they are only about ten minutes from home. which is always a plus

Visiting Sacremento and looked to BA for places to visit. And Pangea Cafe came up. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. Very good tap selection. 27 offerings on tap. Everything from a dubble ( grimbergen & Brother David's ) to Tripel's ( allagash curieux & chimay white) to Belgain Quad's. With a nice selection of local micros. Samples from Drake's, Russian River, Ruhstaller, just to name a few. But if that wasn't enough they had Oud Bruin's and a gueze's on tap too! All this "and" a great bottle selection that you can cork there or take to go. Highly recommend.
