750ml corked & caged bottle.

Pours a hazy amber color with a very little white head. Nose is funky and wet and dank and tart and vinegar.

Taste is mouthpuckering and tart, it's got that wet horse blanket taste to it that's really cool. Theres a nice light carbonation to I that I like a lot, it makes it much more drinkable. Overall very good.

Bottle purchased from Green's on Ponce in Atlanta. I hope this is the correct listing as it's the lambic and not the kriek and the label is almost identical. The label states that it's a blend of three-year lambics. On a small oval on the bottom right of the front of the label is written XXIII, I'm assuming it was bottled in 2003.

Pours a hazy golden-tan color with a slight ring of fine bubbles around the glass. The bubbles quickly fade leaving no lacing and light legs.

Smells of large amounts of funk - wet hay and grassiness with hints of leather. Also present are slight amounts of wheat twang.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Light malt flavors with slight amounts of wheat kick things off and are quickly overtaken by solid amounts of funk. Very slight amounts of medium fruit flavors come into play midway through the sip before fading out into a lightly tart and funky ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with very soft carbonation. It's not completely still as some unblended lambics can be.

Drinkability is very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall I thought this beer smelled amazing and tasted almost as good. A very well-crafted lambic that's well worth a shot.

2003 Vintage. Poured from a corked and caged bottle into a Cantillon flute. Shared with schen9303.

Pours near flat. No head, no lacing. Beer is a clear pastel orange. Expected from the style.

Nose is cheese, wet straw, apricot, citrus puree, and rotting wood. Really delicious as far as lambic goes. Super funky and very aromatic.

Opens puckering. Apricot puree tartness. Wet and rotting wood. Oaky. Cheesy. Lemon sour and dried straw. End is more tartness. Dry and puckering fruity finish with a tart, sour aftertaste. Tasty!

Light bodied with near no carbonation. Oily and silky in the mouth and dry and puckering going down. Tart finish with a dry, lingering aftertaste. Extra points for the LACK of carbonation. Really enjoy this one.

A real under-the-radar lambic. Smells great and is really funky, sour, and developed overall. Lack of carbonation is a plus for me in this style. Worth the money.

Bottled January 2009. Mmm. Juicier and smoother than a gueuze but with all the same notes. There isn't that rough bite or sour jaw-clenching tang. The aroma holds the funky wild barrel character and the flavor is almost a touch juicy. There's nothing new in this beer, it's just a very well built lambic that smoothed with time to showcase the barnyard and farmhouse notes is a more gentle format. Very cool beer. You could use it as an intro to lambics or just enjoy on a summer afternoon.

brewed in 2000, bottled in 2003.

pours a deep yellow with a slight copper and orange tint. basically no head what so ever minus a bit around the rim.

a nice amount of funk with a nice sour lemon and citrus. bits of oak through out this.

starts off with some funk. nice lemony sourness kicks in and carries it through the finish. hints of apricot and peach. a dry oak flavor finishes this off.

for an unblended lambic, this has some decent carbonation. tart and dry.

this is delicious, one of the best unblended lambics i have had.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled January 2009.

Appearance - Flat, but a few bubbles well up from a vigorous pour. Clear burnt orange body.

Smell - Sharp acidic aroma. Quite malty. Lemongrass. Slight funk.

Taste - Maltiness right up front, without any sweetness. Lemon sourness builds. Oak and some bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Flat. Feels much heavier than a 4.8% lambic.

Overall - These beers always make me crave a full on gueuze. It's a teaser.

Shared this one with my doppelganger by the pool as a part of my birthday weekend! Served from bottle into a Stone nonic. Poured yellow-orange with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, cherry, and funk. The flavor was of sweeet malt, cherry, funk, and earth. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. The cherry aspect on this one was quite nice and enjoyable with the funkiness going on in it. This one was quite easy drinking with the earthy aspect. Glad I got to share this one with a few others as well as this was a nice brew all-around.

750 ml bottle
brewed in 2000, bottled in 2003.
poured into a wine glass

A: Beautiful straw orange color with a small thin white head. I was surprised to see any bubbles given that it is an unblended lambic. The shading of this beer is exquisite when held up to the light.

S: The funk makes itself known along with some brett like leather and oak. Apples, and lemons waft amidst a strong lactic sourness. It smells extremely inviting to the point that I can barely take my nose away from it.

T: Very tart, but not exceedingly sour. There is a bunch of oak, some lemon pith and apple peels. The funk comes out strong as it warms with a burst of fresh meadow and hay. It finishes with notes of pepper and a dry bitterness.

M: It is a very still beer and the mouthfeel is quite light.

D: I am extremely glad I picked this up. I will have no trouble finishing off this bottle on my own. Cheers!
