Enjoyed on tap in Scottsdale (brewed in Tempe). Unfiltered grapefruit appearance, creamy mouthfeel from the majority wheat content, the yeast. Very lacey. The smell is bannana and cloves. The taste: the cloves are right there. Appropriate carbonation. A keeper.

Beer served on draft at Four Peaks in Tempe, AZ. No one cares but this is my 400th review. Beer served in a shaker pint glass.

Beer is yellow / darker yellow and really super hazy, completely hazy. There is a lemon slice on the side of the glass and I get rid of it quickly. The beer is moderately carbonated but has nearly no head and there is no lacing on the glass (when I finished the beer I notice a little lacing at the bottom but really nothing before that).

Overwhelming smell of banana esters in this beer. I've had wheatwines that don't stack up to this smell. wow.

Medium to low bodied beer with a strong sweetness from a strong ester component. Overall the beer is really drinkable and has a nice clean wet finish to it. A great session beer no doubt. Definite clove flavor well balance and carried throughout the pallet by the carbonation. I really love this beer. Its a great hefe. I wish the lemon weren't there.

Large, rich flavor hits you right away. Lots of German esters. Finish is more like an American wheat-- hoppy and a bit harsh. Quite malty and mouth-filling. Very fragrant with cloves and fruit. Bitterness takes the edge off the usual sweet Hefeweizen taste.

Starts out mellow with a crisp finish. Light golden color. Rather spritzy in the mouth. Very decent tap version of the style. Loads of flavor but less finesse, it that matters.

This sits a very hazy pale straw color in my glass and is topped by a thin pale white head. The aroma is a smack of banana followed by a dash of clove. The taste is sweet and spicy with an evident wheat character to it. There is some definite fruitiness, a by product of the yeast, evident through to the finish. Notes of banana and clove dominate the taste, as a good Hefe should. This beer is a light, refreshing, characterful, traditional Hefeweizen.

Appears a cloudy yellow with a nice, fluffy white head that lasts. Smells pretty nice, of zesty citrus, wheat, and slight banana. Taste is a bit thin and acidic. It doesn't help that they served it too cold but no matter. It has some good points. I like the zestiness of this refresher. Mouthfeel is a bit odd. Slightly light feel with perhaps an alkaline like acidic taste. Overall, not a bad brew.

It's ok, dog.

On tap at Casey Moore
Poured a golden color with a slight haze with a small white head. Unimpressive. Nose was rather light and flowery, with slight hints of citrus and clove but not to appealing or convincing.
Taste is light, wheat and minimal banana. The mouthfeel was crisp and had a slight bite.
Not an outstanding hefeweizen, but drinkable.

Ontap @ the Four Peaks Brewery

Appearance: Standard hazed yellow and right to style. Lacing is abundant.

Smell: Big time banana and fruit esters. Wheat also apparent in the nose.

Taste: Well rounded flavors. Bavarian yeast provides the trademark hefeweizen banana/bubblegum. Hops are there too, providing a lemony, spicy effect.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, easy drinking.

Notes: A solid little hefe' here. Right on the mark and would be a suitable quencher in the hot AZ sun.

(Draught Only):
A lightly chill hazed golden amber color on the pour, the head is average in size, the color a bright white, the texture creamy and as it erodes a fine sheet of lace is left behind to seal the glass. Nose is sweetly malt, crisp and fresh with just a slight hint of the wheat; start is quite sweet, top a bit thin. Finish is mildly carbonated the hops present and understated, dry aftertaste. Drinkable and refreshing in this dry and dusty desert, makes a fine “session” beer, and is brewed year-round, meant for the lighter is better crowd, not that there is a thing wrong with that, just doesn’t do a thing for me.

Another review from notes, a Saturday afternoon visit to Four peaks on 3/28. A pint glass full, on draft.

A: A hazed wheat yellow-orange glassful, like a watered-down orange juice. Thin white head, speckled patches of lace.

S: Pleasant clove/banana aroma, decent spices, too. My mother (not a beer connoisseur by any means) picked up on these esters when she had a taste. As authentic a 'Bavarian' efewezen as I've had from a US brewer.

T: Wheaty and grassy, lemon and a decent spicing. Bubblegum sweetness. Tasty, leaning towards sweetness and lacing a spiciness or mild hopping for better balance.

M: A little bit thin, rather oily/slick. Grainy wheat gives a lasting coating.

D: Oh so refreshing. On a warm day, there could hardly be a more refreshing beer. Smooth, satisfying. May I have another - please!

Draught: Cloudy yellow color. There was some head but not much. I wish they wouldn't put a lemon in this type of a beer, since they are usually pretty good without it. Based on my notes, this beer was much better than the last time that I had it. There was a nice aroma of wheat and a slight breadiness and citrus hints to it also. The taste was slightly lemony, banana, yeasty and a good wheat body. A solid hefe.

On-tap at the airport Sheraton, Tempe, AZ.

Pours a dishwater-golden body that's somewhat hazy, but otherwise unattractive. The fleeting white head leaves little in the way of lacing. The aroma's got lots of bananas, white chocolate, cloves, yeast, wheat, and a touch of earthy hoppiness. Quite nice.

The taste is initially sweet, with vanilla and bananas leading the way, backed by a biscuity, sweet maltiness. A spicy, clove/hop note round out the flavor, leaving behind a decent, if not ephemeral, aftertaste. Body is a bit thin, but refreshing, and easy to consume. This isn't the best Hefe I've had, but I'd definately go for it over, say, Blue Moon.

Golden orange and hazy. The first pours were well fizzy, with dots of lacing. The nose has some green peppercorns, grassy hops, with banana and clove. A sweet flavor that has some banana upfront, pretty fruity and sweet overall. Light body, refreshing and easy to sip. Definitely worth filling up the growler.

Poured from the tap at the Tempe brewpub and served in a standard pint glass.

Looks: unfiltered. A completely opaque yellow-orange liquid the color of overripe tangerines sits beneath a substantial, pillowy head of white that sticks around for quite a while and shows no signs of ever leaving. Some sparkly webs of lace decorate the glass as I drink.

Smells: like fruit punch. Lots of pear, banana, coriander, bubblegum and pineapple. Very sweet, very fruity, very nice.

Tastes: follows the nose nicely. Banas and pear juice again, with an accompanying pale malt dryness that shows itself at the finish.

Feels: subtly carbonated, smooth and medium-light-bodied. Just a little on the watery side.

Drinks: like one of the better American-made hefeweizens I've had. My second-favorite beer from Four Peaks.
