Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie...

Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

On tap at Four Peaks. Poured into a pint glass.

Looks nice, great consistant bubbles rise through a golden-orange clear and filtered body.

Smell is good. Nice citrus hops and bit of caramel malt shine through.

Taste is great but I remember it being more hop forward the last time I had it. Perhaps this is a batch that's a month or 2 old. Medium bitterness. Nothing extreme, but a little too toned down for me.

Mouth is appropriate for the style. Just enough malt to be substantial.

A good IPA, but I think it's been better in the past. Would def. have again, and it's worth trying, but I'm waiting for the double hop knot in a few months :)

Bright reddish-orange with a full, bubbly, off-white head that tops out right above the rim and pushes its pungent aroma into the room. Closer inspection reveals citrus (grapefruit and lemon) and some rind. Taste is more subdued that the aroma would indicate. Barely hoppy and a bit chalky. Some light fruits are noticed. Pretty flat in all domains. Tastes like it's well past any reasonable prime, but there's no decipherable freshness dating on the can. So be it.
