just my third ever beer from these guys, a thoroughly old school pale ale here, malty and bitter with a decent bit of body and more hop bitterness than flavor, not amazingly well done either, despite it tasting fresh, a little metallic thing on the finish, some residual sugar that i dont need in this, and to me a pretty lackluster hop profile even though its robust, very generic overall, but still fun to taste with the crew. i like it a little more when considered as an english pale, but i really dont get the classic english ale yeast profile to this, its a little tame to me, understated and lost to the hops, so even though this is balanced by american standards, it misses that english balance for me. lighter amber copper color here, pretty good clarity, short and quickly fading white head from the bottle. a little thin, sweet, and cheap in aroma and flavor, pennies at the end, some nuttiness in the middle, short of bready but baked and earthy which is nice in the center before the hop bitterness rises up, north of the typical english level, and the finish never really comes, long on the palate with the lingering grain character. not unpleasant, and i like the lower abv, high carbonation, and overall robustness of flavor, i just think its not quite neatly in either pale style and not borrowing the best elements from either one of them. this feels like a product of a past generation of craft beer to me...

I had this beer on-tap in a pub glass at the brewery.

Appearance: rich caramel golden hue with a clear body and a finger of creamy ivory foam atop. Very nice.

Smell: bready, malty and caramelly. Warm and inviting.

Taste: caramelly and a little bit sweet with a relatively bitter finish. Perhaps a little sweeter than I'm looking for but not bad.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent level of carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a bit sweet, like I said, but for that it's crisp and refreshing.

Pours an amber color. 1/3" white head on it. Aroma was not hoppy. Definitely going for the English pale ale subgenre here, hopefully I like this more than Bass pale ale. Woof. Aroma of malty caramel bread.

Taste was pretty mundane, which is kind of how the style works. Drinking, not thinking. Liquid biscuit. Drizzle the stale caramel on it. Lacking bitterness to give it balance, this leans the wrong direction for me. You gotta pump those IBU numbers up, those are rookie numbers in this racket. Want some more toffee/caramel bread? That's all there is to drink here. The only hop notes are largely soapy.

As much as I rip on Icky (an English ipa here in Nevada) it is at least enjoyable at times for what it is. I fully realize this isn't a style I'm into as a hop grower and drinker. Nonetheless, I'm always happy to compare apples to oranges. Would have preferred more carbonation here. Its like it leans real ale cask with the subdued carbonation. Could easily be called an English Blond Ale as well.

12 oz. bottle - Freshest before 01/01/20:

Pours deep golden with a creamy lasting head. Foamy lace sticks.

The smell is floral with some grainy bread. A pleasant aroma.

The taste of floral notes mix with caramelized bread/biscuit. Well-balanced finish.

It is refreshing - on the light side of medium-bodied, but not thin.

An easy drinking Pale Ale. Is it "English" style or "American" - debatable - Personally would go with more balanced, lighter APA, but I can see it fitting where it is because it is between.Maybe English influenced APA (more floral than earthy?) Doesn't really matter. It's a well-balanced, easy drinking, Pale Ale with a pleasant floral character, especially in the aroma.

Appearance: Pours clear and amber colored with a quick, but effective bubble show; the two finger head stays put and leaves a few shards hanging around

Smell: Toffee with both earthy and floral/citrusy aspects

Taste: The toffee malt lays down the base, with the a floral and orange peel bitterness; some earthy elements, through the middle, with a balance between the malts and the hops through the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Drinks a bit like a hybrid as it skimps a bit on the earthy/fruit/toffee character of the best from across the pond; still, a decent session ale

Thanks, kevindp9, for the opportunity

From the 12 oz bottle via the little lady's daughter and beau---Thanks Jeanette and Jamie!
This sessionable pale pours a nice clear light amber with a moderate head of white dissipating
foam that rests to a thick ring, thin light pool, and displays nice light soapy lacing. Nose of
light honey malts, light herbal hop notes, and subtle citrus. Flavors follow the nose with a light grain
note surrounded by light honey and caramel malts that are subtly touched with light citrus notes of
citrus and a faint herbal hop. Decent mouth feel; medium light body, medium high carbonation that
is lively, and a lightly bitter herbal hop finish that is nicely balanced.

A solid easy drinker from a new to me brewery.

A light, slightly hazy amber, with a finger of white foam that sticks to the glass, and tons of bubbles rising. The aroma is sweet caramel/toffee, and some minor citrus, like lemon and orange. The flavor is mild. Again caramel malt, and mild citrus. The bitterness is very low, but balanced between sweet and bitter, overall. Feel is medium thin, below average carbonation, sticky up front, and dry on the finish. Overall, probably a good gateway pa, especially being an English style pa.
