For those of you who are unaware, Devassa is a franchise of brewpub restaurants akin to BJ's found throughout Rio, and is now spreading through the rest of southeast Brazil. The Copacabana location is right acorss the street from the beach, towards the southwestern end of the world-famous beach. In other words, great location. The hostess told me to make myself comfortable, and that I did. I went straight to the bar and had a couple beers (Ruiva, Sarará). Only beers under the Devassa name are here, and there are five varieties on-tap, and three in the bottle. Each beer has its own type of glass, and it's always fun to watch the bartender pour those beers and create those thick, milk-creamy heads. It may be a franchise all around Rio, but if you're at the southern end of Copacabana beach, it beats getting beer from those Skol kioscks scattered throughout Avenida Atlântica.
