Pours a murky dark amber with a fluffy head of tall beige foam that fell slowly to a layer on top and finally to a ring. Looks pretty, like a glass of wet brown sugar. Has a gold or yellow undertone and an orange hue that is inviting and graceful pastel. Soapy lace drips away to leave soft alcohol legs.

Nose is rich with dark fruit and bright with wheat and breaddy malt. Raisins plums, touch of alcohol. Vanilla, hint of clove, light banana. It's not a sharp nose, it's a mixture. Dark grain and some white fruit in back to add temptation.

Taste is rich dark fruit with a sweet malt like banana bread. Lightly sweet but not cloying, the palate is deep. Spice s are clove and a hint of cinnamon. The fruit is a bit tart where it counts and there is apple and pear to quench and refresh. Alcohol is warming but not hard or heavy.

Body of the beer is smooth, creamy and full. Moderate carbonation. Wheat and alcohol dries the finish and leaves a bright aftertaste. Drinks pleasant and fairly light.

This is my first offering from Ithaca's BandWagon Brewpub. It's a darn good one. Smartly made and has a character that is very approachable.

On tap as part of a flight at Bandwagon Brew Pub in Ithaca, NY. Apparently this was the Gold Medal winner at TAP NY, so I've been dying to try it. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten much recognition, however.

A- Small tan head with a hazy light brown body. Some lacing is present.

S- Banana hits me first. A little bit of dark fruit and some spice is noticeable as well. I really want a sip.

T- Oh god, give me more. This goes down so easy. It's creamy and the taste is nothing short of spectacular. Just as the nose indicated, lots of banana and dark fruit and the spiciness is just right.

M- Fairly thick and creamy. Just the way i like it. Carbonation is just right and there is just a slight alcohol burn.

O- My favorite Bandwagon brew by far. I could drink this everyday.

Draft offering at the Bandwagon brewpub served in a standard pint glass. The brew appears a hazed amber brown with some reddish coloration around the edges. A tan cap sits atop about a finger strong with fairly decent retention. Some spots of lace stick to the glass.

The aroma is classic example of the style. Mild yeasty spice of clove, banana, bubblegum and fruit like pear/apple skins. Some darker grain inclusion almost like chocolate is present but it just doesnt quite get there. The major scent to the nose is the fruity alcohol components.

The taste runs the same course as the aroma. Mildly yeast with a spiciness of clove, banana, bubblegum and fruits like pears/apples. More sips reveal almost raisins or prunes that takes this brew in the darker direction with some dark grain quality that faintly tastes of chocolate.

This is a medium bodied brew with a moderate amount of carbonation. It was well balanced and very easy drinking. I only had time for one brew so the next time im in the area I plan to revisit more of Bandwagon's offerings.

Had this on tap at 'The Bandwagon' brew pub in Ithaca.
Nice hazy dark brown, almost mahogany, color with a thin film for a head that dissipates fairly quickly.
Aroma is typical of a wheat beer, with lots of banana esters, clove and some spice (nutmeg/cardamom) and hints of malt and bready yeast.
Taste similar to the aroma is fruity with subtle hints of tartness upfront giving way to a nice subtle hints of roasted malts. Finish is crisp and almost dry. Quite a lot going on in this beer.
The alcohol is hidden very well, and with such easy drinkability you need to really be careful. Good mouthfeel as well.
Overall, I think this was amongst the best beers from The Bandwagon.

High Step Weizenbock has a fairly translucent, brown body. The head is almost non-existant, and doesn't have any retention or lacing attached to it.

The aroma has lots of fruit, with traditional banana and a hint of cherry. Some peppery, coriander scents, and a big wheat backbone with a little bit of alcohol to it.

Fruit flavors dominate the taste. Lots of traditional banana, and quite a bit of cherry. At least as much cherry as banana actually. The wheat in the backbone joins with caramel and a bit of molasses, and perhaps a just a bit of dry, cocoa. Coriander and peppery flavors are also fairly powerful. The finish has a pretty good amount of heat to it.

The mouthfeel could use a lot more carbonation, but the body is full enough.

A fairly large amount of alcoholic heat in this beer makes me guess that the ABV is between 9 and 10 percent. I'm not thrilled with the large cherry flavors and the sweetness is a touch cloying. Overall, however, not bad.
