Bandwagon's Oatmeal Stout has a dark brown body that is almost opaque, and a small brown head that has OK lacing and retention.

Roasted malt, coffee and a good dose of fruit rule the nose.

The flavor begins with a yeasty, fruity character that tastes like dark cherries, and then moves into a pretty good coffee flavor that mixes with roasted malts. Hints of chocolate and hops are in the background.

Not the luscious, silky smooth feel of a great oatmeal stout, but this beer has enough body and carbonation to hang.

The Oatmeal Stout is pretty good. I would prefer the malt profile to take a little bit of control from the yeast, however, because this beer would be better overall if the yeast played only a supporting role.

This was the surprise hit of my two flights at Bandwagon brewpub. I have the feeling that most people won't like it but I sure did.

Pours a dark cola color with garnet hues. Has the sour nose that boasts of stewed dark fruits. Raisins, prunes, oats. Not oatmeal and there is a difference. These oats are oats and not excessively creamy on the nose. There's a strong flavor and a smooth somewhat slick body. At first I thought the after taste was strange and then I realized that it wasn't sweet and that went away in my mind. It has a bitterness from prune and raisin and a slick mouthfeel. The rasin is authentic and smells like it has been baked in a cookie. As it warms it takes on a flavor of dates and nuts, some honey and some anise. It reminds me of a baked pastry with succulent dark fruits, nuts and light brown sugar.

I liked this a lot. I found it to be rich and showcased a malt that was done in the style of dogfish head malts. Smooth almost invisible and almost always uniform. Light sweet with bread to carry the flavors but nothing you can really reach out to comment on because it is subtle. Has an old world flavor.

The end of the line at the brewpub.

A: The oatmeal stout is a darker color, not quite black but well on its way to being black. The thick brown hues are deeper than cola or coffee. A low carbonation level hampers the head.

S: The nose is creamy, oatmeal lending a milkiness that pairs nicely with roasted stout elements. Neither aspect overpowers the other.

T: Dark and sweet, the roasted body gives chocolate and roasted grain flavors. The oatmeal adds creaminess, a lactose-like sweetness that cuts into the body. The cookies and cream aspect of the malts and oatmeal is enjoyable.

M: A resoundingly sweet taste, the oatmeal stout is a nice way to finish the day. Worth a pint at least.

Presented with a black pint with a think nitro tan head, Hung around a little but not the whole time.
Smell was roasted malt, not the best place to try to smell a beer too much wonderful food smells.
Taste was a bit of a surprise as it was a very flavorful, sweet oatmeal stout roasted grain but again this is very sweet with the malts.
Mouthfeel was a thinner medium suiting for the style
Overall it may be a bit too sweet after the full pint but was still enjoyable.
