A-This bar is located relatively near the Grand Place in Brussels and maybe 400 meters from Manneken Pis. This was the first bar we visited after arriving in Brussels and it was certainly a big departure from the village pubs we had been visiting earlier in the week. It has modern, industrial-chic decor with concrete and exposed brick and re-purposed wood. The space is pretty good sized, with 15 or so large booths and a long (for Europe) bar with plenty of room. The place was pretty quiet when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon with one table of Italian tourists keeping the volume up.

Q-The tap selection is huge for Belgium (maybe 25 beers) with a good array of gueuze, in particular, and quality Belgians from virtually every major old-wordl style. I did not explore the bottle list in-depth, but it looked hefty.

Ser-Our waiter was very knowledgeable and courteous. He was there when we needed something, but otherwise left us alone. You got the distinct impression he was working here because he liked beer and knew what he was serving.

Sel-As noted above, this was probably the best selection of taps I saw in Belgium. The list was heavily Belgian but there were a few Germans and and a few British beers, too. There was even an American beer or two on draft (although I forgot to write down which one).

F-We just ordered a meat and cheese plate, which was pretty decent. The pate was excellent, but the cheeses were nothing to write home about.

V-Prices were considerably higher than in the countryside, as you might expect, but still within reason for a big city like Brussels.

The selection is amazing, with 6 different Cantillon drafts/casks (along with others) when I visited, and an extensive bottle list. The service was also impeccable, very efficient and with all of the bartenders and servers happily speaking English. The quality is world class, at least with the lambics, which was my main focus. The atmosphere is I suppose a matter of preference, and I liked the feel of the St. Gilles location more. This was more than fine though, with a large outdoor seating area and plenty of room at the bar. The food selection is pretty limited, but what I had was good. The price on some of the bottles was pretty high, but absolutely appropriate in my opinion for a world class bar like this. Overall, one of the best bars I've ever been to.

Really cool spot, must-go for craft beer lovers. Awesome selection with a ton of sours, saisons, belgians, etc. Had some good italian beers on tap that just came out. Some of the bartenders were kind of assholes but whatever. Food was great, had the meat and cheese plate with bread.

The route back from Cantillon conveniently took us past Moeder Lambic's second location and we stopped there for a not-so-quick lunch of quiche and a meat and bread plate. There I tried the Band of Brothers, a hoppy Belgian style IPA made by Brasserie de la Senne in collaboration with Moeder Lambic. This was a very hoppy beer that I liked, since I hadn't had a really hoppy beer in almost 2 weeks, but may have pushed the limits for me. Since it took a while to get our check, I ended up ordering a second beer, the Cantillion Iris Grand Cru on tap, which was much more mellow than the regular version. I love this beer bar!

We ended up back there later the same day and tried even more great beers.

One of the best beer bars in Brussels for sure!

One of the very best beer bars I've ever been in. I can't believe the level of service we received, in our servers second language, but these people love beer, love their jobs, love their neighborhood ( I counted 8 strollers, what does that tell you? Yes this is just off the highest tourist traffic area in Brussels, but somehow its filled with young local families into drinking good beer with their neighbors on a Monday night). If you find yourself near the Grand Place, seek this joint out. Especially if you like lambics & geuzes, but their "guest" taps include a lot of new, small European brewers pushing the envelopes of traditional styles, introducing American elements ( read: adding new wrld hops, big IBUs), and just generally raising hell.

My wife and I went to Brussels on a "beer trip" that she gifted me for Christmas last year. The main focus of the trip was to find cool places to drink beer and to also bring some local brews home with us. This was one of the last stops on our 2 day trip and it was well worth it.

One of the things we enjoyed about this place was that it is, for the most part, off the tourist map. It was a short walk down the street from our hotel and close to the Grand Place.

I was very excited to see how many different beers they had on tap. The selection included blondes, stouts, fruit beers, sour beers... Many different choices to choose from.

Another highlight was the roasted barley that they served with the beer. We asked the waiter about it and he explained that it is used to eat and it cleanses the palate between beer samples. It worked very well and was a nice little snack.

The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about all of the beers. They had very good recommendations about which beers would suit an individuals taste. The place was not overly crowded and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone going to Brussels.
