found this place by chance one chilly Boston night as the wife and I were moseying our way through the Back Bay coming from the theater district. turned out to be a nice find. décor comes off as simultaneously upscale yet inviting, the chicness of it softened by a nice fireplace on the first floor; big windows look out onto Stuart St. having come from dinner we found seats at the first floor bar and ordered drinks. not expecting much, the beer selection was a pleasant surprise. about a dozen taps and then a bottle list spanning 30 more. couldn't resist SA Utopias even at ~$25 (for a 1.5oz pour). followed that with St Bernardus and then a Stone IPA, both of which were on draught. bartender was decent if not especially memorable - which was fine, crowded Saturday evening and all. price-wise, not cheap but pretty standard for the area. all in all I definitely see myself making a return visit. perfect for satisfying the wife's atmosphere requirements while also meeting my criteria for beer options.

I took my wife here recently for her birthday. I wanted to take her someplace nice, and also I wanted to check this place out. Walking in, you notice it's a very dim atmosphere inside. There is a nice fireplace on the first floor, and a popular bar area. Upstairs, there is more seating and a walk in glass wine cellar. This is definitely an upscale tavern. Service was good. We had a new waiter; you can always tell. But he was quick and attentive. Beer selection was also above average for a bar in the theatre district. There were about 10-12 on tap and 25-30 bottles all laid out nicely on the menu. Great mix of American craft brews and imported beers. I went with a bottle of Augustiner. Food was stellar. Duck potstickers for apps were great, the beer and bacon mac and cheese was heavenly, and the pumpkin whoopie pie was a surprise hit. Food prices were decent, while drink prices were on par for the area. I would surely come back here again for dinner or for a beer at the bar. Post 390 seems to be a place to be seen at the moment.
