This place really is a temple of great beer! Its just around the corner from a fantastic bottle shop. I checked this place out on my first trip to the city. Its perfectly located not to far from Dam square. Walking in the bar is a bit dark, and the beer menu is written on wall. It is extensive! It's huge! Along with all the great European beers you could always want but never tried, BeerTemple also has a great selection of US craft beers and excellent collaborations. The service is fantastic. I say that because when I was in there it was myself, a great BA that I did and in person trade with, another lady, and the bartender who is very knowledgable and friendly. So much so he shared a bottle from behind the counter with me. I am heading back to Amsterdam at the end of March and I will be in this place every day.

This is a temple I will be sure to worship at repeatedly!!

Found this place on a day trip to Amsterdam. The beer selection was incredible when I went. I don't remember exactly what I ordered, but I do remember it was an American craft beer that I hadn't had or seen before. I also remember they had Westvleteren bottles available but I didn't get any.

The bartender when I went was very passionate and knowledgable about beer. After being in Germany a few months it was refreshing to be able to talk beer with someone that had the same enthusiasm as I did but with a new perspective. This place definitely respects American craft beer and is worth a visit.

I hit Beer Temple on my last of two days in Amsterdam and enjoyed the visit. It was nice to find a place that had that BA vibe of extreme/rarer beers along with numerous Belgian and Dutch beers along with a good assortment of American beers on the menu, too. Nice also to be able to order drafts in small 15ml/5oz tasters as well as larger sizes.

It was a moderately busy Friday afternoon in rainy Amsterdam when I visited. The tap list is quite impressive printed out on the wall in chalk, and everything that I ordered was in stock and as far as I could tell, everything else was in stock, too, that the other patrons ordered. I had a Spanish DIPA, a Left Hand stout, the 3F/Mikeller wheatwine Hvedegoop and Duvel Triple Hop. Prices were a little bit higher than other spots for the non-rare stuff and definitely crept up for rarities (I passed on 99euro Dark Lord), but it's great to see the availability of so many brews.

Atmosphere was quite pleasant. Low background music with a mix of Johnny Cash and alt rock. The bartender was very attentive to quickly getting what you want as you step to the bar to order (signs indicated to please order at the bar, so that's what I did, and it worked just fine). Seemed the clientele was a mix of American beer enthusiasts as well as some Dutch and European folks. A chill vibe that worked well to drink your beer in a rainy afternoon amidst the chaos and debauchery of the rest of Amsterdam.

I was lucky to stumble upon Beer Temple the first week it opened, in October 2009, and made it in on a Monday the 19th, right just before closing and had time for one beer. Even though it is an American Craft Beer bar I had to order the La' Chouffe Houbalon, because I truly enjoy that beer and I I didn't get a chance to have one on this trip. The owner was there working behind the bar and seemed glad to have Ammericans stop in durring the opening week with the local beer enthusiasts. I will be going back to Beer Temple when I go back to Amsterdam to start my 5 day Dutch beer tour September 27th.

This is a must stop for anyone visiting Amsterdam or locals who haven't been exposed to American craft beer. BeerTemple is small in size, but absolutely huge in terms of selecion. In fact, they have a better American craft selection than anywhere here in Nashville.

The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. We happened to get there as soon as they opened so it wasn't busy at all and the bartender on duty was very friendly and attentive. He was happy to talk about the American craft beer scene from a European prespective and make a couple of recommendations.

The selection is top notch and would rival many good beer bars in the US. Founders, Three Floyds, Shorts, Southern Tier, Great Divide, Left Hand, Anchor ,plus many more. They also have several European selections including BrewDog and Mikkeler. Loved em.

In terms of pricing, a little high, but very reasonable considering import costs. I had no problems with any of the prices especially when you consider that I can't find any of this stuff in Nashville. If I ever make it back to Amsterdam, I will go here. You should too.

Oh BeerTemple - an american beer bar brought to you by the brains behind 't Arendsnest

Curiosity drew me here - i'm always interested to see how far American beer travels and what Europeans are enjoying. I knew this place was legit, but I wasn't quite prepared for what I was about to experience...

Scanning through the taplist board was interesting - lots of interesting things, standard offerings you see in Europe a lot (flying dog...) and some really off-the-f*cking wall stuff. Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock?!?!? What? How is that even possible? Is this ever even on tap in the US? Sure, I'll take one. Wait, no, I'll take 5. Actually, just give me the f*cking keg.

They also had the Kuhnhenn DRIPA which is no slouch, and a nice wild stout from Jester King. The bottle list aint cheap, but if you want a Dark Lord, it's all yours.

Fascinating stuff. For an american beer bar in Amsterdam, I'd say the selection was perfect.

The eisbock was so good, we came back the next day and killed the keg.

Abraxxas across the street - just sayin...
