I poured from a bottle into a glass. Good foam retention that was creamy and smooth. The color was unfiltered and amber - very nice for a hefe. The smell, of course, had a good, but not overbearing apricot and fruit aroma. The taste was rich and malty with apricot and banana overtones. Not too hoppy. The mouthfeel was rather light for a hefe, but overall it was good.

I rated this beer straight 4's. Overall, it's a good beer for a fruit beer. Very drinkable and a nice change from your typical beers, ales, porters, stouts, etc. Not something I would drink a lot of simply because I don't drink a lot of fruit beers.

A - A nice fluffy white two finger head rises above a hazy copper/apricot hued brew. Lots of really nice poofy lace is left on the glass.

S - Big time sweet apricot! Smells like when you get close to a girl who's chewing fruity bubble yum. I also smell some flowers, yeast, and apricot scented Yankee Candles.

T - Sweet and salty apricot. Dried apricot pieces that come in some bags of trail mix. Again, very much like an apricot flavored bubble gum.

M - Too fizzy for a hefe IMO, this is slightly heavier than light bodied, and the finish is sweet and somewhat slick, like bubblegum.

D - I've had a lot of fruit beers recently (I've been buying them for my fiance), and this is one of the better ones. I'm honestly not a big fan of fruit beers, but this is drinkable.

So I find myself up in Hendersonville for the NC apple festival. It was hot, way too hot for a street fair, but we were there for the fun none the less. So about midway through the day I started to get a bit hungry and decided it was about time to stop off to get something to eat for lunch. So we found this nice little pub called the Black Rose right on Main street and decided to take a stop in to see what was going on. Glad I did as they had a ton of good stuff to eat and drink and that is where I found this little gem. Nothing better on a hot day then a nice light fruit brew, and since I had never really had anything from Pyramid, that made it even better. So I had to go ahead and order one with my sandwhich. So onto the review…

A – Poured a nice hazy, murky pale golden amber. Lots of suspension left no doubt in your mind that this one was an unfiltered one. A good two inch plus head formed at the top almost immediately and had a decent, but not long retention to it. After the head faded it left behind about a quarter of an inch of fizzy, fuzzy lace that just barely clung to the glass but was enough to let you know it was there. Ample carbonation could be scene streaming up from the bottom of the glass throughout the session and gave it a very nice livily look, all around the look was more then decent and just about what I was looking for at the time.

S – Very strong, almost pungent smell coming off of this one from the very beginning. The first whiff was ridiculously sweet with the smell of, what would you expect, apricots. Very fresh and full aroma. Smelled like a nice summer day and was delicious to be honest. After you got through that initial assault of apricot, you came across a nice yeasty smell and a touch of wheat or bread. Overall though it was totally apricots and a lot of them that gave this a nice sweet and full aroma.

T – Wow, was this a fruit brew or what. Very very strong flavor of apricot pretty much overpowered anything else that was to be found inside of it for a good long time. It was a very sweet flavor as well, lots of, and I can not stress that enough, lots of apricot! The nice unfiltered wheat defiantly came through as well, but I would consider this to be way more a fruit brew then a Hefe, it was just overpowering in its approach. There was some yeast and wheat flavors, way way out on the backend of it. Also the finish had somewhat of a lemon like touch to it, something a bit different to be sure and separate from the rest of the main flavor profile. Overall a very strong, pungent but yet light flavor. It was defiantly something that was nice to have to drink on a hot day as aside from the absurd sweetness, was actually quite refreshing.

M – Very light, and frothy. This was due mostly to lots and lots of carbonation. It had that nice kinda sudsy feel to it, and it rolled through the mouth like a seltzer water feel. Great way to really let the flavors explode as it was just so smooth you really could just let everything go by itself. Just a great all around feel to it. Really impressed by the level here, really very very nice feel.

D – Well this is a bit tricky. It was so very sweet that I really could not see myself having more then one of these. I just don’t think I could stomach that much of the level of sweetness that it had. As far as feel, abv, and such it was definitely something you could put down, I just think that the flavor was so absurdly strong that there was just no way that you could possibly have more then obe or so, unless that is really your kinda thing.

Overall I have to say though that this was not bad by any stretch. It was a nice surprise and a good lively little effort of their part. I could see myself having one every now and again, however one would defiantly be enough for sure. If it is around I would defiantly say give it a shot, it is in the same kind as a Lindemans, however it has a little bit more of a punch. Pretty decent offering and good enough to get me to look at Pyramid again in the future.

The beer pours from the short 12-ounce bottle a hazy golden amber color with an average frothy white head that settles quickly leaving the lace a thin seal on the glass. Nose quite sweet with the malt and the apricot essence, citrus like crispness, start is nicely malted, sweet taste of the fruit, evident, with the top light to medium. Finish has a benign acidity, the hops understated and the sweetness lingers on forever, drinkable, but nothing to write home about.

12 oz brown bottle, short and fat, one of the summer pack of beers.
Pours a golden color with a nice white head. Hazy appeareance due to it being unfiltered. Very strong smell of sweet apricots. Fresh and not overly artificial fruitiness. Lots of apricot fruit flavor, quite sweet, almost candy-like. There is also some unfiltered wheat beer flavor coming through. Lots of carbonation keep it light. Reminds you of eating a fuzzy peach gummy candy. A good hot day, summer drink.

Pours to a hazy pale orange with thin white head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing. While I don’t particularly care for apricots, this had a very pleasant fruity aroma that hit me immediately and stuck through most of the glass. Unfortunately, this was by far the highlight of this beer.

Mouthfeel was thin and slightly tangy, although it seemed artificial. Likewise, the apricot that was so prevalent in the nose was lacking in the flavor, and what was there seemed to be medicinal tasting.

Finally, the aftertaste was similar to that I remember after taking medicine as a kid. My advice for this beer: Pour it in a vase and enjoy the aroma, but pass on tasting it.

Pours a hazy yellow orange color with a slight head. The smell is of apricot and wheat grains. The taste is of apricot but it is not overpowering you can still taste a slight hop bitterness and some wheat. The mouthfeel is too carbonated for the style it is moderately carbonated. Overall it has a good drinkability you could have a lot of these, very smooth and easy drinking.

Beer poured into my glass an apple juice color. Rather bland looking, with an oily layer on top.

I smelled the apricot in this, as well as an odd corn-ish scent. Not appetizing.

Taste was better though. Apriots abound, with a soft nutty malt backbone. A slight soapish taste is keeping this one from higher marks, but it's not a strong overpowering flavor.

Very light in the mouth. Could drink a few of these on a hot day, if you're into fruit beers.

Poured from the bottle into a tasting glass, it is a golden color with a slight orange twinge. The nose is apricot, strong apricot. The taste is apricot sweet with a slight maltiness character. The mouthfeel is chewy and slight bitter finish. Kind of a neat style, but I couldn't drink more than a few.
