I came across Grão Fino by mistake. I was actually looking for Belgian Beer Cafe in the same shopping center, but the address I copied down was way wrong. So instead of "going Belgian", I went Brazilian.

Grão Fino is a combination of coffee house and beer drinking establishment into one. From what I could see, the inside of the place was really clean and sharp (I sat outside during my stay).

The focus on beer is artisanal Brazilian beer. No imports, no macros. Three beers on-tap, which are supposedly brewed for the house, plus 50 in the bottle. They have Eisenbahn, Baden Baden, Backer, Wäls, Falke, Devassa, Mistura Clássica, Schmitt, Colorado. Also available were Eisenbahn Lust, Lust Prestige, and Baden Baden Tripel (three very expensive, hard to find types). I'm sure the list will expand as more Brazilian brands are distributed to Rio.

That beer menu needs an update. DaDo was also listed on the menu, but they were out. Meanwhile, Wäls wasn't listed, but I could clearly see some in thier inventory. They did have Mistura Clássica Amber on their menu, which I ordered....good....but it came in a 600 ml bottle when the menu only listed it at 355 ml. For that, I marked down on the service.

They have full entrees available if you're hungry. I ordered a four cheese pizza, which was....well....really cheesy tasting. Served on a thin crust without tomato sauce. Culture note: most Brazilian pizza comes without tomato sauce. To further the culture shock, some Brazilians add ketchup to their pizza! I ate it without the ketchup, thankyouverymuch.

If you had to pick only one beer bar in Rio to drink nothing but Brazilian craft beers, Grão Fino is it. As a bonus, across the street is Città America shopping, which Beertaste resides at.
