Style | ABV
Belgian Strong Pale Ale |  8.50% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
This is an unfiltered Belgian Style Blonde Ale. The beer is blonde in color from the pale malted barley varieties. It is delicately hopped with Styrian Golding and Celeia for medium bitterness and aroma. Sugars are added for higher attenuation, following the practices of some Belgian brewers. Belgian ale yeast is used to add complex flavor esters. This beer is unfiltered and yeast is left in for additional conditioning. The beer is named Fatale because it is 8.5% alcohol by volume and will catch up with you if you’re not careful.

Clear golden body. High apparent carbonation, but a very small resulting head.

Nose is light, sweet and slightly funky.

Banana esters, candi sugar, mild euro hops. Just an OK version of a strong golden ale (think Duvel).

Mouthfeel is quite flat, even just a minute or two after a medium pour. Points off here...

Drinkability is decent. It's a bit hot on the palate, but still light and even a little quenching.

Overall an extremely solid Belgian Blonde/Strong Pale.

Pours golden with just a faint whisp of carbonation. Fruity, bubblegum and banana, small hints of warming spice.

On the palate this is sweet, sticky candy sugar and cotton candy followed by a warming, earthy bitter finish.

If they carbonated this better, it would be more balanced and have a much more appropriate mouth, lifting and refreshing instead of sticky and full. If they dried it out, more, all the better.

A fine American take on the style, that I'd happily drink (particularly on tap) and cook with, but won't find myself craving a return to.
