Late summer brings some of the best in local produce and Joe has made the best of it with Cornucopia, his farmhouse style ale brewed with Iowa Sweet Corn. This was one of the first brews he made last year to appeal to the locals around Knoxville and it was met lots of enthusiasm. Originally, it was informally called Iowa Corn Beer. Over a couple of pints last spring as we were planning our fall, the name Cornucopia was thrown out, probably by Joe, and it stuck. It’s catchy, fun and a little silly. But don’t let the name fool you, this is a beer that serious beer people love!

Had a sip at home over Christmas and took 2 bottles for later. Lovely style and it works. Sessionable but flavorful.

Poured from the bottle Yellow murkiness. Bright white head; nice lacing. Corn nose with a hint of sweetness. Medium/thin mouthfeel. Taste is of corn; decent & inoffensive but quite forgettable.

Spices and slightly musty in aroma. The flavor is of spice and yeast with a sweet edge, likely from the corn. Sweeter than most saisons, this was pretty good, unique.

A- Slightly fruity esters from the belgian yeast. Finishes very similarly to Blonde Fatale. Lacks a little on the aroma.
A- Hazy, straw-golden in color, head disappeared right away as is also prone to do with Blonde Fatale.
F- Can taste the grain flavor from the corn. Kind of a sweet bready flavor. Not very much hop bitterness. Finishes sweet and leaves that Iowa sweet corn flavor.
M- Medium body, slightly creamy because of the corn I would assume. Medium carbonation that gives a slight bite.
O- Sweet, bready, grainy flavor is definitely nice. It really is a pretty filling beer.
