On-tap at Woody's City Market served in a standard pint glass a crisp dark orange with a thin head that is slow to diminish and leaves decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is a nice balance of burnt caramel malts and pine hops. The taste is nice amount of slightly bitter pine hops balanced nicely by smooth burnt caramel malts. The beer is on the light side of medium with smooth carbonation and a hint of dryness. This is certainly an enjoyable IPA, I look forward to seeing more of Craggie's beer making it to this side of the state.

Served from tap at the brewery into a sample Willi glass. Poured red-orange with a minimal off-white head. There was no lacing evident throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of malt, piney hops, and marijuana. The flavor was of malt, caramel hop, and oregano. It had a medium feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a decent IPA. The aroma and flavors of this one are quite strong and pronounced. This one would probably be much better if these toned back just a bit in both aspects. Definitely worth a try given the opportunity.

golden amber color was transposed into the glass. Lots of carbonation actively searching for a place to go, lands it up at the top of the glass and into the mix of a rich white frothy head. Nice two inches of head quickly races by and leaves with it a nice fluffy and intact pillow across the top that slowly deposits tones of spider web like sticky lace down the sides of the glass. This was a good looking IPA.

The aroma was pungent and fresh, dripping with hop resin so bitter you could feel it through your nose. Very floral, with big notes of orange and tangerine, hints of grapefruit and lemon, with a bit of pine tar thrown in for good measure. This was what it was all about. The flavor was more f the same, and this could have been quite possibly the best tasting IPA I have ever had. Right up there with Sculpin for sure. Huge, sticky fresh hops, loaded down with candy coated sugar. Big notes here of orange all over the place. Lots of citrus of every conceivable kind just literally dripping in here. This is what I would imagine chewing on a still growing hop vine would be like. It was intensely fresh

So, unlike the other reviewers, I had this out of a 0.5 Gallon bottle I picked up on my way to a beach vacation. Upon pouring, the beer was unfiltered with a nice malty/hoppy nose and decent head. The initial taste was great with a nice balance of malt, hops, and evergreen/pine, but as the beer warmed a bit, the evergreen taste became overbearing and put me off a bit. I would definitely consider trying this again on tap.

Appearance: From the tap, pours a deep mahogany-hued body with a craggy, snow white head on top.

Smell: Scent of well-toasted sandwich bread harboring petite notes of cocoa, caramel, and nuts. Fair amount of fruitiness throughout. Scant spiciness, with a earthy herbaceousness in the background.

Taste: Decidedly toasty malts with a pinch of cocoa powder and a background spicy nuttiness. A small bit of sweet caramel slips in and out of the flavor. Slight touch of apricot and baking apple fruitiness. Herbal, floral, earthy hop presence with a modest inclusion of bitterness. Dry maltiness on the smooth, easy finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: I found it to be a quality, smooth drink, though some pugnacious hopheads out there may not find it has enough 'mmph' for their tastes.

Herkulean IPA, on tap at Craggie Brewing Company on a recent visit. Served in a pint glass.

Appearance: Arrives a dark copper but translucent brew. One finger of taupe head sits atop the attractive body and showcases some above-average retention. Post fade, there's still a nice chunky blob of surface lacing and a thick, foamy collar.

Aroma: Tons of herbal hops, spicy and grassy, balanced by a simple, slightly roasted, and very internally balanced malt bill. A fairly subtle but complex nose.

Taste: Huge flavor. Like Simcoe or Nelson Sauvignon, minus the bubble gum. Very herbal - incredibly herbal, in fact - with tobacco, mint, juniper berry, and grass coming through very strongly. Citrus is present too, but is a bit of an afterthought. Bitterness is mild, enough to balance a dryer but present caramel backbone, but definitely in check. Great.

Mouthfeel: A little uneven, though not sticky, with an average body, and a good level of effervescence. Nicely balanced, though a little less carbonation or a little more body would get it a 5.0

Drinkability: An excellent IPA - balanced, flavorful, drinkable, with a unique hop that presents some fantastic flavors in a very drinkable, 6.0% abv package. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I wasn't disappointed by any of the CBC I had, and I doubt I will be at this rate. Drinkable is the name of the game with Craggie.
