Poured from a bottle into a stella goblet. I have had this brew several times straight from the tap at their brewery downtown galena and found it very tasty. This is the first time I have seen it bottled and figured I should try it.
a- aggressive pour leads to about 2 inches of thick khaki colored head that holds for quite a while. Leaves some lacing on the glass as it receeds. Color is dark brown/black with no light getting through. Pretty good for the style. 4
s- dark roasted malts, hints of coffee and some creamy milk chocolate.
t- bitter chocolate, some roasted coffee, roasted malt, finishes again with some toasty oatmeal chocolate flavor
m- a tad over carbonated for my tastes for a stout. Lacks a bit of the creaminess that I am looking for from an oatmeal stout, even when it warms up. Nice dry stout feel though. Very drinkable.
overall, a nice drinkable oatmeal stout from Galena Brewing Company. I love it that they are local and I can get it around here, and the price is right for them to have my support ($7.50 a six-pack). I think I would prefer it on tap, but this is a great alternative if I cant make it to downtown Galena to the brewery.

I had a 16oz tap pour at the brewery. For some reason I went into the experience with super low expectations (probably because the last few oatmeal stouts I've had were watery thin and mealy in flavor umph). I was very pleasantly surprised. The pour is a thick black, sort of a thin head, but the smell is rich creamy sweet chocolate. They nailed the mouth feel, thick and chewy! Well done team. The flavor was a syrupy sweet thickness with slight bitterness on back end. I really enjoyed this stout. Definitely give this one a try if you find yourself in Galena.

Malty, nutty, with very light chocolate. Medium bodied. Good lacing.
