Thanks to Kirkpjr for sending this out in the under 100 BIF. I poured it into a Sam Adams glass and was greeted with two fingers worth of off white head that trails off to a thin sheet of lace. The body of the brew is clear brown.

The aroma is sweet and bready malts and yeast . The flavors mimic the nose but with a light hop bitter finish. That kind of thru me seeing this was a honey brown. I thought it would be sweeter and show more of the honey in the flavor department. It had a medium feel in my mouth with good carbonation.

Overall I liked the brew and it was an easy brown ale to drink but... It did come off as a rather average brown ale to me.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pilsner glass.

A: A nice, glowing-warm reddish-brown. Lots of bubbles; thin but creamy head. Some lacing.

S: Honey definitely comes through on top of beerier malty notes.

T: Wow, this is way different than I anticipated. It's really quite hoppy for a brown ale, with sweet honey acting as the balancing influence. The aftertaste ends up hoppier than sweet. The combination is strange, but actually quite compelling.

M: The honey/hoppy combo plays out in the mouthfeel as well; it's quite engaging.

D: I would drink this beer a lot. It's easy sipping, interesting drinking, and goes down swell. Would buy again; recommended.

A - Nice clear amber brown color. The beer has a smaller head that dissapates fairly quickly but is very fine and clings nicely to the glass. Very inviting carbonation bubbles rise to the top. A little lighter than some brown ales but a nice looking beer.

S - Rich honey tastes rise from this beer. There is also some nice coffee? or chocolate smells coming from the beer. It has an earthy element and overall the smell is very good and not too strong or too weak. Smell complements the taste exceptionally.

T - Taste is really where this beer won me over. The honey addition makes a perfect complement to the brown ale flavors. It is brewed for Back Forty by Lazy Magnolia and has some influences of the Pecan Lazy Magnolia. If you get a chance try it.

MF - Medium bodied with light carbonation
D - Great beer, I get it when I can

This is an excellent beer from a very small brewery. The added honey makes a unique twist that is characteristic to the beer. It is hard to find, but if you see it you need to try it.

This light-bodied, sweet brown ale is easy to drink in one session. Its color is a thin brown, close to amber. The smell is non-obtrusive, but not revealing either. The taste is light, and sweet with a bit of nuttiness. Brewed with local wildflower honey, so it's good for my allergies. :) I'm glad to see another style from Back 40, as the pale ale is such a tough category to start in. I have enjoyed this 6-pack enough to have finished it in two days! Congrats to Back 40!
