Holy crap did this place impress me in a recent visit there. I used to work right next door when it was the Coffee Bar, but now it's completely transformed into a very cool Belgian-style gastropub. I can find no fault with any place that serves fresh and delicious La Chouffe on tap!
Tap and bottle selection is excellent; lots of good locals, but with a very solid selection of Belgians on tap. The food is also excellent and prepared with a lot of finesse. Frankly, it's even a great date place if you're so inclined (and want to sneak in a delicious beer or two to help the night go smoothly).
Vibe is also solid; right near the university so it has a nice variety of people and very good service. I highly recommend this place; might be the best place to get a good quality beer in Edmonton.

Small but interesting draft selection. Choices from Edmonton to New York to Belgium.
Large and well-balanced bottle stock. Nay. Well-curated. Orval, Duvel. Rogue, Dechutes. Pannepot and even Cantillon, for anyone looking to celebrate.
Good food. Comfort food to fine cuisine.
Good vibe. Hipsters and college kids. College profs and suburbanites.

I absolutely love this place!! It's the first place I take people that come to visit and always my first option when going out. The tap list is decent but very focused on euro-beers (not that that's a bad thing). The do have a rotating feature tap though that doesn't disappoint. The bottle list is the best in town and offers a lot of really good beers for great prices. I think the list is up over 90 now and I've just about worked my way through every beer they have.
The staff are very attentive and friendly and if you're not sure what to get they are usually pretty decent at suggesting a beer for you based on what you like. It can get crazy busy sometimes (especially friday and saturday) but if you don't have a large party and are willing to wait a little bit they are usually pretty good at managing to find a table for you.
The food is also really good and once again reasonably priced. There's not a massive selection but I have yet to dislike anything I've had there and the mac 'n cheese is amazing.
All in all when you pair such an awesome beer list with great food, good staff, and an amazing open air gastro-pub type atmosphere you are in for a great night/afternoon/morning meal!!

Aside from the delicious and "known for them" Cinnamon Buns, the beer selection is vast and the food is good and adequately filling. With beer styles stemming from origins such as Germany, Italy, Canada, US, China, etc. the selection is large and what's great is almost every beer they carry gets served in its respecive glass from the brewery. A very nice touch. Environment is a comfy, neighborhood style with a tonne of rich history in Edmonton. Lovely for an afternoon snack or a midmorning brunch, Sugar Bowl is a staple of Edmonton that has and will be around for a long time.

Awesome little cafe in the University area with warm brick walls and local art. Most definitely one of the best patios in the city. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Food is tasty
Hands down, the best beer list in the city. 11 taps, and around 80-90 bottles on the list. Very European beer heavy, but still a decent selection of North American craft beers available with tasty monthly features as well. Also a very popular monthly cask ale night every month, by local brewery Alley Kat.
Great space, great place, great beer.
A must for any beer drinker.

Paid a visit with a pal from Toronto for the 2nd Cask Night. Arrived mid afternoon, and managed to get a seat (well, comfortable wooded bench that runs the length of the patio) out on the very sunny and hot patio. Patio remains quiet as it is set quiet a way back from the main road.
Server came over after about a minute with some very welcome glasses of water and the lunch menus. Basic choices of food but what there is is reasonably priced and very tasty. Server was very polite and chatty, and made you feel welcome.
The tap selection is very Euro-centric at the moment and a bit lame (IMHO) but the recent addition of Alley Kat is very welcome. It's the bottle list that really makes this place stand out; great diversity and the pricing just can't be argued with. DDC Peche Mortel is only $6.00 a bottle, Rogue XS Imperial Stout only $23.00!!
Can get very busy at times, especially with the student rush, but most people don't mind sharing tables with total strangers.
Overall, has a real nice relaxed atmosphere, staff are attentive and is just a great place to waste away the hours drinking great beers and meeting new friends.

Bright and airy Belgian style cafe. South facing garage style roll up windows allow the cafe to be opened up on nice days. A quiet location near the South end of the High Level bridge in between the University district and the Whyte Avenue strip.
I went there for a weekday brunch. The menu is simple but innovative and at a high quality. Alcohol can't be served before 10:00 so don't go too early! Weekends are very busy.
In general a friendly and laid back place to enjoy some good food and a wide selection of beers.
