Being that I live down the street from Huntington Beach Brewing Company I wish it was a great brewery or even a decent spot to drink. Unfortunately, this place falls flatter than a pint left at room temperature for two weeks. The house beers mostly miss the mark and often have attenuation issues, but there are a few decent guest taps. The food borders between acceptable and terrible.

This is the only brewery I’ve ever been to where the place turns into a dance club on Friday and Saturday nights. If you are eating dinner and aren’t finished by the time dancing starts, your food and chair will be taken – you’ve been warned! (642 characters)

Descent food, poor service, great patio and indoor area. Irish Red and Ocktoberfest have been good here for 10+ years. Great prices on growlers. (144 characters)

Great location. Grab a seat on the patio if available for good people watching. Sadly the beer and food are just mediocre. (122 characters)

great place to meet a friend for a beer however, not so good on selection of what to drink. Its more like a regular bar than a brewery with almost home brew equipment for brewing beers. (186 characters)

Stopped by on Friday.. Blonde, triple, brown, DIPA, red and stout. The DIPA was a big hoppy ale at 9%, unfiltered and delicious. Had the triple next and it had a nice candy/alc taste that was all right. Sampled the brown and it was a light roast & malty ale. I finished with Red, a nice amber colored, malty slightly hoppy ale. Overall very drinkable brews and will be back for sho. (382 characters)

If you are standing outside of Huntington Beach Brewing Co, turn @ and make the drive down to Newport Beach Brewing Company. Trust me, do yourself a "flavor"

Cheers: The red ale was decent enough. When it FINALLY arrived.

Jeers: An insult to the brewing community. Sure it has a outdoor elevated patio, but that patio is mobbed with pretentious d bags and their even lamer friends: the staff. Actually, that's the only thing that HBBC has going for it. I am willing to be that the same lameo bromos that frequent this trainwreck would still shuffle on down if they served Busch Light in plastic cups and said that it was the Blonde Ale. An upgrade to their food would be to serve bait from the pier and call it sushi. But then again, sushi might get all insulted and stuff and go konichiwa on HBBC. Which is just what this place needs: a swift kick in the keester. Saying that this place is horrible is an understatement. Service was atrocious, staff was rude and arrogant, food was sub par. If you read the Yelp reviews, they just don't care about how patrons in the community perceive them. Honestly, the WORST restaurant and bar (notice that I didn't call it a brewery/) that I have ever experienced. This is a never again. (1,228 characters)

This place relies on its location.

How can someone resist a nano brewery? well, try your best to resist this place, if you're ever in the Huntington Beach area.

Atmosphere: the best part, the only good part. and upstairs restaurant with a nice outdoor dining area that over looks the huntington beach shopping area

Quality/Selection: the beer was awful...honestly one of the worst breweries out there. they only have very poor examples of common styles. My guess is that the purpose of this place was to be a gimmick to make money rather than making good quality beer.

Food: also terrible. extremely greasy, burnt, and just poor quality.

If this brewery was not in a touristy area, it would've failed very quickly. (721 characters)

This place can be tough to find as it's upstairs (above a Baskin Robins) and you have to see the small door and follow the stairs up to the restaurant.

Fairly small inside but there is a good sized bar and several tables inside. There is also a patio outside with seating (and it has some of those heaters which are useful in the evening).

The beer selection is fairly small. They had five house beers and a guest beer or two. The house beers are not very good at all, and the guest beer I remember being on was Great White (also not very good).

A sampler of all of the house beers (and they threw in the Great White) was reasonably priced, $5.50. Food items seem priced about what you would expect.

I can't really (in good conscience) recommend this place because, well, their beers suck. Not to mention parking in Huntington Sucks, too. (842 characters)

Only four beers on tap:
HB Blond - A Kolsh-style ale (4.5%),
Pier Pale,
Golden Bear Brown Ale,
Hercules - A Belgian style ale (9%)

I sat outside on the deck overlooking Walnut and Main during the weekly Tues night farmer's market. The place seemed surprisingly quiet when I arrived around 6:30 in the evening. I had no problem scoring a small granite topped table overlooking the crowd, street perfomers and vendors below. Given the limited beer selection I ordered the Brown (all HB beers are $3 on Tuesdays) and the Mahi Mahi Fish and Chips ($10.50). The service was pleasant and prompt, and the food came out super quick.

The Golden Bear Brown was a big malt bomb, not bad, but one dimensional and not my favorite take on the style. The fish and chips came with two large pieces of fish, fried dark amber, and enough french fries to choke a horse. Couldn't tell what the fish was, other than bland, with each bite needing a good dose of tarter sauce.

Overall, I was unimpressed. This place is really not a beer destination, especially given the multitude of better places in Orange County (heck, even BJs across the street probably has a better selection). But, if you happen to find yourself in Surf City, and just want a cold beer with a view, the HB Beer Co. might suffice. (1,285 characters)
