A- This is a nice clear yellow. Reminds you of a classic bud. No head really on an aggresive pour, no lacing either.

S-Smell is just a hop dance. It's like it was dry hopped. This is a pilsener right?

T- Yup, taste more hoppy than you think. I think this aggresively hopped. This is a pretty nice flavor, low abv too. Sessionable?

M-Light bodied, carbonation is alright.

O- It's just a pioneer I think for a german pilsener. SO hoppy, if you like hops then you will like this beer. Pretty impressed.

A - Pours a clear golden brown with almost two fingers of white head. Head fades pretty quickly but leaves nice lacing.

S - Subtle aroma of toasted malts and noble hops.

T -- Nice crisp taste with toasted malt and with more intense hops than many pilsners. But it works well here. A bit grassy.

M -- Light and crisp with a faint lingering bitterness.

O - Maybe not the most traditional take on the style, but a very enjoyable beer that I would get again.

Pours an attractive amber. Carbonation is limited, with a miniature head of lacing.

Aroma is enticing -- grainy, yeasty, with a little hops snap in there. Pleasing.

Flavor is sharp, with a well-done hop integration. I rate this an above-average pilsner. Tasty and worthy of repeat purchase.

Had on tap.

A- Pours a golden yellow color. One finger white head has good retention. Sheet style lacing on the sides of the glass with some light streaks here and there.

S- Some light pilsner malts come through in the front of the beer aroma. Earthy tones come in secondly with grassy and weedy notes. Also, there is a semi-sweetness to this beer that runs from the front to ending of the aroma itself.

T- Front of the beer has some light noble hops in the front with a medicinal alcohol sweetness. The middle of the beer has the pilsner malt come thorugh with a bready taste as well. Ending is some spicy hops with a sweetness that lingers on. Alcohol comes back into play at the ending with a sweetness as well.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Sweet malts and noble hops left on the palate. Aftertaste is sweet malts and alcohol with a lingering hop bite that fades rather quickly. Flavors are well put together for the style and flavor is crisp and clean with no off flavors. Light drying on the palate from the alcohol.

D- This beer was a nice drinker. A little more sweet than I like for pilsners to be. I found it to be lighter in the ABV and I ended up drinking two imperial pints of it before I moved onto something else.

Had on-tap at Yogi's.

A - Deep golden color with very little head.

S - Slightly sweet with some grassy/floral aromas.

T - Grassy/spicy upfront with hints of noble hops. Finishes slightly sweet with a little alcohol burn that lingers on the tongue.

M - Thick for a pilsner. Lots of malts in this one.

D - Very good for the style (Dortmunder) although a little sweet for my personal taste. Very solid beer although after a couple the sweetness becomes a bit too much.

Review #100.. I love supporting the small craft breweries and especially those in the state of Indiana, where Three Floyds, Flat 12, Sun King and Figure 8 step it up on a daily basis.

Unfamiliar with People's Brewing out of Lafayette, Indiana, i've read up on them lately and was fortunate to find a six pack of their German Pilsener at my favorite Terre Haute, IN beer stop.

This is a very tasty pilsener.. the full review follows..

Appearance -- Pours into a pint glass, i get a golden brew with a billowy white head.

Smell -- Just enough of a hop presence, but not overbearing.

Taste -- Gotta love the small craft breweries no one ever hears about. A very refreshing beer. Not bitter by any means. Complements any dish.

Mouthfeel -- A wonderfully crafted beer.

Overall -- People's hit it on the mark with this beer. I believe a visit to People's in 2012 is merited after this beer. Thanks People's.

Served this 12 oz. brown bottle in a Sam Adams glass. No date. The body was a rich, bright gold. A bit hazy. The modest white head settled to an island and tiny ring.

The smell was a soft vegetal aroma. Fresh grain.

The taste was spicy noble hops. There was a nice lingering grassy bitterness. Some toasty barley. Some lemon. Pretty clean. Very easy to drink. This is not on the level of Summerfest or Prima Pils but a pretty good pilsner.

The mouthfeel was nice and smooth at first but finished with a bit of a coarse kick in the swallow.

Having lived in Lafayette for the past few years, I have heard a few different things about our local brewery: People's. To be honest, most of the responses ranged from "It's alright" to "AVOID ENTIRELY." Not a promising picture. However, after seeing it on tap at so many places around town, I gave it a try anyway. Here's the result:

Served on-tap at Wings, Etc. in West Lafayette, Indiana.

A: The body is an amber/dark gold, with nearly no head. It shines in the sun that streams through the windows near our booth; you can tell there's substance here.

S: Light hop notes; herbal, but not super-piney. It entices, but leaves a lot to the imagination.

T: Fresh and hoppy - there's a good bitter bite. The wheat is not as fresh underneath, but still a good addition. I'm more focused on the genre-defining hoppiness, which rolls on the tongue with the strength of a classic imported pilsner. The bite sticks around for the aftertaste, coupling with fresh water to create a satisfying spring/summer refreshment.

M: A good smooth feel in the mouth, though not exactly a microbrew. Overall, it's quite drinkable.

O: I honestly don't know what all the fuss was about; People's seems to be doing the right things here. A respectable pilsner that I'll probably have again, especially when it's with a plate of wings.

Bottle opened on 6.9.12.

A - Pours a cloudy light orange with a tinner off-white head that fades very slowly.

S - Very wheaty, malt, and bready.

T - Subtle wheat and strong citrus punch - Lemons.

D - Good carbonation with a light body.

O - Light and very crisp.

Quite a hoppy little devil, aren't you? Sharply grassy, spicy, and floral in taste but then with the support of pilsner malt and other vegital portions for an earthy sweet/bitter interplay.

People's Pilsner opens with a slightly hazy medium straw color and steady streams of carbonation. A light and sparse head tops the beer. Low in retention, but the lacing is ample despite such timid head character.

Aromas and flavors are heavily focused on vegital components that start with a spicy and grassy hop profile that develops into a gripping bitterness in finish. Along the way, the modest malt sweetness introduces flavors of raw grain, corn, and husk. Otherwise herbal, softly malty, and with an underlying cracker-like bready sweetness that is burried under the hop and grain profles.

Quite crisp, dry, and refreshing throughout. The early light creaminess is short lived as the beer ushers in a quick dryness, grainy bite, and slight alcohol warmth in finish.

Farily typical of German Lagers, I would have prefered a more herbal and floral hop character along with a smoother bitterness. I appreciate also the crisp malt flavor and feel, but would have liked less grain and corn taste to allow the clean malt crispness to shine.

(On-tap at Black Swan Brewpub)
Poured a very nice bubbly yellow with good head and nice lacing. Very nice sweet and crisp scent, nice maltiness with a decent spicy hop aroma underneath. Good flavor, clean and crisp with a nice sweet flavor and a nice spicy-semi-skunky noble hop finish. Goes down quite well.
