Pours orange-amber with a piney, fruity aroma. Very thin head that dissipates quickly. Hop aroma and citrus flavor are pronounced. Alcohol aftertaste is present from this high gravity beer. Overall, good but not great.

Can courtesy of my friend Jacob, who has solid Indiana connections.

Pale amber color, brilliantly clear. Pours a solid sized just off white head, creamy and lingering.

Has a rich nose with some caramel maltiness and some citrus/pine hop aromas.

Flavor takes me back to Colorado in the late oughts, when I drank many similar tasting DIPA type beers. Rich and malty up front, with some earthy hop flavors. Malt tends to dominate, and even carries some malty sweetness into the finish. But does also have a lingering hoppiness that isn't entirely pleaant. But overall the malt and hop flavors don't meld well for me.

Medium-full body, medium carbonation. Some very slight alcoholic warming, but overall drinks pretty smoothly.

For me a bit too dominantly malty. The hop flavors seem a bit dated and don't really stand out in this beer.

On tap at D.T. Kirby's in Lafayette.

A - Nice medium to dark copper color with a dense creamy white lacing ring and light carbonation.

S - Sweet caramel malt that's light in aroma followed with delicate citrus on the nose.

T - Sweet caramel malt base stays consistent from start to finish with some spicy citrus over the top. Finishes balanced but after the sip the spicy citrus gains momentum and coats the mouth with sweet juicy grapefruit.

M - Thick mouthfeel that's pillowy soft.

O - An easy sipper that's balanced.

Orange Amber pour, no head. Smack of grapefruit on the nose. Rubbing alcohol aroma, grape, citrus, fruity. Bitter taste for the sake of bitterness it seems. Bitter grapefruit. Lingering, Bitter hop presence. A alcohol taste. Lots of sweet malt. Overall, I keep trying to like the local guy, but am usually not thrilled. This is another example.

12 oz. bottle into an IPA glass

A - Moderate pour produces a 1 finger, beige colored head that is mostly creamy but with just a hint of milk froth to it. Head dissipates to a rocky lacing with a creamy raised edge around the glass. Beer itself is clear and a bright, light amber color that has moderate carbonation rising quickly towards the surface of the beer. The coloring is accentuated with just a hint of a red rose like color around the edges. 3.75/5

S - The aroma features a very strong dose of pine and grapefruit with a bit of mango, papaya, and pineapple. Malt is very hard to distinguish due to the amount of hop oils present in the aroma. Reminds of the smell of a tropical fruit salad in a way. 4/5

T - Very sugary and sweet up front, almost like drinking candy (as the beer warms this becomes more of a grainy, malty sweetness). This gives way to a caramel sweetness that then transitions into the hops. Papaya and pineapple really stand out initially but these lead into just a hint of grapefruit prior to transitioning to a pine resin finish and a bit of herbal earthiness that comes as a last second reminder of the hop presence. The bitterness really does not linger on the palate at all which is quite unexpected. The hop flavors here are not nearly as strong as expected but are individually discernable from each other. 3.75/5

M - Light to medium bodied pale ale that features more of a carbonation tickle as opposed to a burn. Does not linger upon swallowing, rather disappearing entirely from the palate as if it had not been there. 3.5/5

O - For being a 9.0% abv DIPA, this does not act like a beer of that high alcohol content. There may be just a slight booziness that allows itself to be noticed just slightly at points throughout the tasting but it really does not come out much. Sugary sweetness and the up front malt help balance this one out, allowing the flavors of the hops to come out nicely rather than just the bitterness. Very approachable for a DIPA. 3.75/5

Pours a cloudy pale amber with a no dicernable head and no lacing. The smell is dominated by dried fruits. The taste is enjoyable with good balance and appropriate hop bitterness. The alcohol is noticeable and could be better managed. Overall a very good beer, but there are better options out there.
