Wanted to try this beer all year when I never got a chance to try it last fall season.

A - Beautiful amber color. Small white head with light lacing.

S - Light spices come first : i.e. cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and maybe some slight clove. Second to the spices comes the beer smell with some malt and caramel notes. Lastly a light vegetal hint that seems to be common this year.

T - This beer starts with the spices from the nose. A light crisp beer flavor in the middle with the malt/grain tones. There is an ever so slight vegetable pumpkin flavor. The finish is soft and mostly clean with a well-balanced perception. No one flavor characteristic jumps above the rest blending well and allowing you to keep drinking.

M - Light to medium mouth-feel. Light carbonation. The body was on the lighter side but it was very similar to People's Aberrant Amber with some body as expected.

Overall, this is a good pumpkin beer. The balanced flavor is the key to this beer. There seems to be some depth but nothing is drastic or jarring allowing you to drink, take in the flavor, and let it wash away. Though this isn't my favorite pumpkin beer since I really enjoy the predominant flavors of pumpkin spices (I love pumpkin pie), it doesn't detract from the solid enjoyment of it. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't really like pumpkin beers yet or just if you want a more middle of the road pumpkin offering.

A higher-strength pumpkin ale made with copious amount of fresh, locally grown pumpkins.

Pours rust-colored with a small white head. Smells like a malty ESB with a heavy (yet balanced) dose of pumpkin pie spice: cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and hearty orange pumpkin. The beeriness and pumpkinness compliment one another quite nicely.

Tastes like it smells, only fuller and even more well-balanced. It's rare to find a pumpkin ale that has such strong pumpkin nodes but still tastes beery and doesn't get cloying sweet or chokingly spicy.

They had trouble keeping this on tap and I can see why. Maybe it's just that I'm not accustom to drinking such fresh pumpkin ale, but this stuff blew my mind: it's spritely, lively, and as warm as pie. Great offering.
