One of The best things about living in the middle of nowhere,Indiana is being able to go get beer here.

The beer is awesome, inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence & admiration.

The atmosphere is one of cosmic bliss.

Went in today & they had some 72' grateful dead playing on the sound system-they usually have Bob Dylan or some old school blues playin' when i go in early on Wednesdays & that is always nice too.

cheers!

Great job People's Beer! keep it up! please.

Loved this place! Really great service and a good selection of their beers(12 taps 2 on nitro) made this one of my favorite brewpubs that I have visited in Indiana. The prices are also awesome, pints for 3.50 all the time! Definitely recommend stopping by here if you find yourself in Lafayette.

I'm glad I only live about 90 minutes away from Lafayette, because I found one of my favorite little tap rooms in People's Brewing Company.

This place is located just a tad outside of the lively area in Downtown Lafayette, so it definitely stands distinctly on its own in this way. From the outside it just looks like a converted warehouse and has an inviting, painted People's logo that covers an entire receiving door.

Inside is a compact tap room that is peppered just right with all sorts of People's-related goodies. The rotating selection had 12 taps on hand when we visited, featuring a variety of awesome brews. I'm a little biased because this has been one of my favorite breweries for the past couple of years, but I think most any craft beer lover would enjoy their time spent here.

The bartender during our visit was easily one of the best we've ever had anywhere. She was passionate about their beer, had a great sense of humor, and constantly kept us fresh on pints/half-pints/growlers all afternoon. Phenomenal service.

The only slight knock I could place on the selection was that nothing over 7% ABV was available. I was a little surprised to not see something like Space Cowboy, Hop Killa, etc. This is only a small gripe, though.

We will be back here every time we stop in Lafayette.

Local Microbrewery that I love to frequent.

Atmosphere- Great setting. Somewhat difficult to find and not a lot of parking making it more enchanting and the free tours make you bask in the ambiance of a profitable microbrewery. When the patio door opens it's great to sit out and get the natural light and a great tasting brew. Also have great music from local artists on a weekly basis.

Quality- All the beers are great and they have a $6 sample flight that gives you a nice tasting of there year-rounds. I usually get there special like an IIPA or a RIS which are usually great change of pace from their delightful regular lineup.

Service- Great service. There is only a handful of servers and if you get on their good-side they will treat you great every time.

Selection- The rotating selection and high demand make getting a pint an adventure every time I go in. With 2 six-pack selections or a growler of any of there 9-12 different taps makes a selection a somewhat daunting task.

No food but that's not an issue for a great microbrewery.

The value is great with growlers for less that $16 and a pint for $3.50 you can't beat it.

I strongly recommend tracking down the brewery if you're in Lafayette, IN because you won't be disappointed.

The atmosphere is nice very, relaxed, almost like a coffee shop but for beer. It's a nice hometown feel. The quality of the beer is good and is consistent across most beers they produce. I'd suggest waiting until the evening, the bartenders are more cheerful and the service is great. They always try to have new beers on tap to try along with their flagships. It's an overall great place to spend an hour or two with some friends drinking good beers.

Had the pleasure of interviewing founder and head brewer Chris Johnson for a class this past semester.

First off, People's is a little tough to identify, as the facility is literally just an industrial cement block building with 2 garage doors on the front, with entrance doors beside them. None the less, it is an interesting setup and different from many other breweries. You walk in to a tasting room that is behind the garage door on the right. Welcoming feel of some vintage video games, tables, and a nice wood bar in the back corner.

On tap is pretty much everything they have available at the time, with a steady rotation of their seasonals mixed in. Two nitro taps, usually Mr. Brown and Moundbuilder IPA, provide a little different twist on those beers. Behind the bar is a window to see a little bit back into the brewing facilities.

They do not serve food here, but allow you to bring whatever you want in to eat with the pretzels they have available. Also, they have lots of board games that you can play while having a few pints. They also host a weekly euchre night. Everyone I talked to there was very nice and well informed. They are plenty willing to talk brewing and beer with you.

I think I nice part about the tasting room is Thursday pint night, where all beers are $2.50 (I think). In addition, lots of brewery swag is available for purchase at very reasonable prices, from shirts, coasters, and glasses to bottle openers.

I highly recommend stopping by, and give them a follow on Twitter or Facebook for weekly specials. If you see a guy with a large beard there, go ahead and give Chris a shout, nice dude.

People's is right down the street from my apartment and I go there a lot after work for a quick pint. There selection of beers isn't huge, but it is a very small brewery and what they do have I like quite a bit, especially on Wednesdays when growlers are $2 off. The brewery does not have a pub, but the tasting room is big enough for about 30-40 people and they are cool with bringing food in since they don't serve any. Overall, if you are in Lafayette stop by and have a drink, you will probably enjoy it.

Visited on 9/24 before tasting in West Lafayette.

From the outside, People's is a very unassuming. A brick warehouse with the name of the brewery on one door at the top of a small flight of stairs.

Upon entering, the tasting bar is straight ahead at the end of a narrow room. Some high-top tables and chairs are to the left and right, a few flat-screens are hung up high, playing football, etc. The tasting room is somewhat small, but was fortunately not crowded when we visited.

6 or so brews were offered on the day we visited, and one of them was also offered in a nitro version. Moundbuilder, one of their more well-known brews, was unfortunately not available. I tried their pilsner first. I'd say it was middle of the road, coming across as a bit "green". Lagering for a bit longer might improve it. Their brown ale, however, which I tried as a "nitro", was delicious. Deep maltiness, with a touch of mineral, and the nitro definitely contributed to a creamy mouthfeel.

I saw one patron at the bar had ordered a sampler, so this is also an option. I'll definitely be back to try their other offerings down the road. Looking forward to supporting this young Indiana brewery any chance I can get!

Stop # 229 on my world brewery tour.

Visited around 5:00 on a Thursday after a stop for lunch and beers an hour or so north at Three Floyds (a benchmark brewery).

Off the beaten path in an industrial area. Large garage door and small lot out front. I had concerns about being too crowded at 5 on a Thursday. While quite a few cars outside, it was comfortable inside and I stood at the bar next to an empty seat.

This one is incredibly difficult for me to rate objectively. I love the underdog, non-commercial, start-up, community-focused, roots brewery. People's easily qualifies for all of these.

The bartender was also the assistant to the assistant brewer and gave me all the scoop about equipment and history. The head brewerv came form Lafayette Brewing Company (LBC), they got all of their gear used and patched it together, and they just added a couple of larger fermentation tanks. A great story to listen to as you look at the brewery through the glass behind the bar.

I finally made a visit to LBC earlier this year and was disappointed in their beers. Unfortunately, the beer quality carries over to People's. I had the sampler and the pale and IPA were both cloying and lacked any noticeable hop characteristic. The pilsner was acceptable but lacked lager crispness. It was hard to detect any lemongrass in the lemongrass wheat. This could be good or bad but not so good in my book when your beer has a hard-to-detect ingredient in the name. Mr. Brown was regular and nitro and I doubled down on two sample glasses or regular.

I'm not expert but I was told they use "bricks of dry yeast" straight out of the bag without rehydration. I think this had some impact on overall quality as the beer tasted under attenuated. Mr Brown was passable as it had enough malt to hide behind.

Really pains me to give a low quality score and I'm hopefully the beers will get better as they dial things in and tighten the screws.

Well there is not much to say since I went when it was in its infancy. They had just finished building their tasting room. Its long and narrow with a bar in the back that seats about 6 maybe. They also have a few tables to they could probably fit 20 in there. While I was there they had 6 beers on tap, but it was a diverse 6 beers, ranging from a hoppy IPA to a malty red ale and a light pilsner to a dark porter. They had a small tour that consisted of the bar tender showing you the small brewery and takes about 3 minutes, unless you ask questions. They will fill growlers at very reasonable prices, sadly I didn't get one before I left. Either way I recommend the trek out to the industrial waste land they reside in to experience them. Their beers are good, the bartenders are knowledgeable and nice. I wish it was there longer before I left, because I would have gone more then once.
