Very cool bottle shop. They stock all the stuff they can get and will order it if they can get it. You can drink while you shop and some days they have food trucks. They are a little pricier than the other shops in town because of the location. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

They get all the good stuff, but its also the first place in town to sell out. If you're not watching facebook for the updates, you're probably not getting any of it. Also, everything in the store is $2 more expensive than anywhere else. Shopping here gets expensive fast.

Top Notch, super friendly liquor store.
Sit outside and drink your beer.
Wooden shelves, racks, floors and counter tops.
Super classy and open to everyone.
Embedded in UF, hidden away in a brand-new suburban plaza ghost town, away from the college clutter.

I started coming back to this store after a long absence (due to distance).

Jeff the owner and his faithful sidekick Mike are true beer ambassadors, educators, and generally good people.

This is a small space with a carefully selected list of GREAT beers. Not a single one is less than top shelf.

4 taps are open too. Shopping is a joy.

And don’t forget about the wine section. It’s great too, but unfortunately I’ve not been able to get my nose out of the beer section long enough to give a serious review. One day my friend. One day.

Even if you are just passing through the area it’s worth getting off of I-75 and coming here. You CANNOT regret it.

Definitely the "all-around" best place in Gainesville to get Craft Beer. It's on the far west side of town so for some people it's a bit of a trek to get to, but well worth it. Being that it is located on the far west side of town, you avoid the vagrants and panhandlers that you encounter at Gator Beverage.

Great selection of beer (and wine from what I hear - I don't drink the stuff). Staff is friendly and helpful most of the time, and I'm sure they deal with enough goobers that think they know something about beer (and want to tell everyone about it - Experienced this in my last visit), that when they aren't being totally friendly it's probably not because the employees are jerks. Dealing with, "know it all," types can get old. I'd venture to say that if I had to deal with that on a daily basis I probably wouldn't be super friendly all the time either.

Only complaint I have is their impulsive need to post every new arrival on their Facebook page. It's great to let your clientele know about new/limited offerings that have shown up, but making it known to anyone who looks at their Facebook page puts most of those selections out of reach for people with regular "9 to 5's". I was told by an employee that I could call and put one on hold by credit card, but when I attempted to do so the line rang busy, and when I finally got through they were "sold out." This was only 30 minutes after their original post.

Otherwise, Tipples is great.

Gainesville premeiere craft beer shop. Where do I begin. Lets start off with that its 5 minutes from my house therefore I pop by here all the time. They keep customers updated via facebook and I run over whenever something cool comes in. The shop is beutiful, a bit small, but the best looking shop ive ever been to to tell you the truth. They also have 4 taps and usually have some rare cigar city on tap along with unusual local swamphead brews. The staff is sooo helpful and friendly. They really know their beers. You ask them one question about a beer and they know everything and will make tons of great reccomendations. They also have no problem looking stuff up. Also they are knowledgable in wines as 1/3 of the store is devoted to fine wines and cigars. I just wish the shiop was a little bigger to vamp up the sleection.(this is the only reason its not gettting a perfect 5 rating) But they only carry top notch stuff. Im not into Belgians but damn their selection is crazy. If you stop into town this is hwere you want to go buy craft beer... PERIOD!

After moving from Ann Arbor to Gainesville, I was worried I would have trouble finding good brews. While I initially had to miss out on my favorite (Founders), Tipple's was a huge find for me. They have an excellent selection and even beers on draft.

My wife is a wine drinker, and they have plenty of that, too. The only place I have been where you can do a mix-6 with ANY beer in the place. They really know what trying the beers is all about.

Prices down here are very good, and now I get to bust into some new brews that I couldn't get in Michigan like Terrapin and Cigar CIty. Excellent staff, friendly, and they've gotten things like Cantillon in here at times. Did not expect to have such a great place to go to here in Gainesville.

I stopped at Tipples on my way home from vacation. The building looks new and is very nice. They've got some nice wine shelves on one side of the store, a bar where you check out that you can also sit and have a beer. Beer is on the other side of the store.
They have a nice selection of craft beers. One area for imports and another for domestics. I was looking for FL beers only and was a little disappointed with the selection. I wanted to load up on CCB but they only had 2 varieties of the year round beers and no Humidor or seasonals.
The service was decent but not great. Two guys working were talking to the two guys at the bar. Neither checked if I needed some help. When I asked some questions they were friendly enough.
I was very satisfied with the pricing. A 6 pack, a mixed 6 and a 750 for 27$ I thought that was fair.

It was nice to find a place like Tipple's only 45 minutes from my house. However when I lived in Gainesville for 6 years we had nothing of the sort. I only wish they would have opened earlier. Anyway Tipple's has a great selection of beer, with more Belgian beers than others. The service was ok, but I guess I was expecting the guy working there to be more enthusiastic. I was pumped up to check the place out and he just seemed to be indifferent. I mean who wouldn't want that kind of job in college?

I will say that the selection is probably the best from Tampa to Jacksonville. The prices are reasonable and you can sample a few beers in the store while shopping. I will go back and recommend it highly.

This place is awesome!! Not only can you find a HUGE selection of beers, a very large selection of wine, some cigars, glassware and a handful of unique foods, not to mention their own hot sauce line (which is pretty incredible). I am partial to the beer myself, but I have tried the sauces and a few of the other items as well.

Tipple's is one of those places where it is just great to hang out after work and look around and perhaps have a beer on tap while you shop for other beers in the store. That's right! a beer and wine store that has beer on tap while you shop for beer!! Most of the beers on tap are local but there is always something good.

Tipple's place is clean. I am not particularly picky about it but most of the beer stores I used to go to I could not bring the other half. On a side not, it is doubly nice because while I ogle the beer she can scout out the wine selection.

Tippel's will open what you purchase and let you enjoy it in the store. Not too many places will let you do this and it gives a person another chance to enjoy the selection. Enjoying while you browse can enhance the chance at one of the guys coming up with more stuff you may like. If you did not like a beer and only had a single they can point you in the way of a beer more along your tastes.

Tippels is always getting new stuff in. If I am looking for something different I can search around quite a bit but if I go to Tippel's I know that I will find SOMETHING there. They get seasonal in as well as a constant flow of local and small batch brews circulating thought the store. The guys who own this place are open to suggestions and always have helpful comments on what you might like.

Tippels also hold the occasional event. I think that any place that sponsors a beer run get some extra points, as does any place with a similar X factor.

In conclusion Tippel's is a perfect place to go and get a six pack or enjoy a beer or tap or even a single from a bottle after work. It is worth a visit just for the experience.

I just moved to Gainesville and needed to get some tasty brews to help make the unpacking go better so I turned to my trusty beer advocate to research the best place around. Just for kicks I read the other reviews and was glad that I didn't pay too much attention to the first review I read that gave them a B minus. Honestly, I can't imagine a better place for beer...not only does it carry to most variety, but they seem to be careful in selecting only the best stuff so that no matter what you try (yes, you can buy individual bottles and drink them in the store!!!), it's sure to be great brew. They also have 4 taps of some really unique beer that they pour you a pint of while you're looking around...way too cool. Go now...you won't regret it!

p.s. - try the PumKing ale from Souther Tier, it's fantastic!

I'm grew up in Gainesville and when I saw, upon coming back to visit family, that there was an A+ ranked beer store (at least right now, as I write this), I was very excited. After going I wasn't completely disappointed, but Tipple's is definitely NOT an A+ beer store. I think I'm a very fair person, so I'll be as objective as possible.

The facilities are very new which gives the store a very presentable, welcoming, and "fresh" perspective. The atmosphere inside is also very nice, with wood shelving and floors. Not a very large store, but a decent amount of space reserved for beer. Parking is somewhat limited, but additional parking was available in the back.

The only employee there didn't say a word to me the entire time I perused through their entire beer section (spent at least 10 minutes looking). I wasn't upset, as I probably know beer selection and styles better than most store employees; however, employees should always ask if you need any help, if you're looking for anything particular, or to let you know about a rare or seasonal beer they just got in.

One really cool thing I noticed was they had 3 or 4 faucets on the wall, and I noticed a few recently poured beers on the counter. Unfortunately, I was not offered one.

The pricing of most beers was about what the other beer stores in the area charge, so: average pricing.

I'm not sure if Gainesville just doesn't have a lot of beer stores, but the selection is average, to good. At first glance you see a lot of offerings, but each beer has anywhere between 4-8 bottle wide rows on the shelf so there are not as many different types of beers as you think. They had mostly what most other beer stores in the area have (Cigar City, Southern Tier, DogFish, Terrapin, Stone, Sierra Nevada, etc.) without anything really alluring.

Overall, definitely worth visiting to see what they have. Just don't expect to be blown away or expect a "World Class" beer store (as technically, that is what an A+ ranking is). I say it's about a C+/B- beer store.

This is a very nice store; well lit, everything seems new and upscale. The beer is relatively well organized, about a third of it refrigerated. They have a few (four, if I recall correctly) taps on the wall by the cooler for growler fills and, better yet, so that you can have a pint while browsing their selection. I had a Swamp Head Blackwater while shopping and it definitely enhanced the experience.

I live only an hour away, but there was still a decent selection of things that I would not expect to find at home. Prices were reasonable, but not cheap. Overall, a very nice store, definitely worth checking out if you are in Gainesville.

A little out of the way but worth the drive. The selection is excellent and the prices even better. I was seeing most prices in line with most other stores with $2-3 off some higher end bottles, which I took advantage of. Being able to purchase a beer from there wide ranging genre (though only 4 choices) of beers on tap to enjoy as you shop the store was a lot of fun. The staff person was attentive and interacting with those at the front desk also enjoying a drink. The store itself was very nicely laid out and with nice decor. The breweries they carried were certainly top of the line from the big players to the smaller breweries. I will definitely be stopping in again next time I am in Gainesville.

This is my go to bottle shop right now. This place is really nice and always has someone friendly and knowledgeable behind the counter. The prices are not too bad either and they have 4 tap handles that they update from time to time so you can have a pint while you browse or just hang out. There are usually other beer lovers slowly walking around sipping delicious craft brews as well so plenty to talk about and plenty of beer recommendations.
Definitely a great store to get a bottle or two if you are in Gainesville.

This by far the best place to buy beer in Gainesville. The staff are very friendly and store itself has a very welcoming, pleasant atmosphere. I've on more than one occasion spent over thirty minutes walking around examining the beer and never felt like I was over staying my welcome. The selection of beer is the best Gainesville, but that isn't saying much. I'm not sure how distribution works in this area of Florida, but a couple of the store will frequently have beers that others don't. So if you don't find it here it may be at one of the other places in town. Overall it's definitely worthy of your time if you're near by.
