Dark brown that lightens with a reddish hue towards the bottom of the glass. Smells of ripe dark fruit, cherries and plums. Also picking up a faint scent of banana. The dark fruit is prominent in the taste as well. Finishes with dark chocolate and caramel. Has a cola taste when cold. As it warms the fruit mellows and vanilla becomes noticeable. Fizzy with a lingering carbonation. Appropriately dense to hold up to the intense flavors. A bit of alcohol burn as it goes down, even though it's not really noticeable in the taste.
Has some characteristics of a Belgian abbey beer as well as a Scotch ale. Whatever it is works well.
