I've been pretty happy with Unibroue's beers, and I'd been meaning to try this. I was pretty excited when I saw a single of this in a local beer store.
A - It pours a hazy golden color, with an orange tinge. It's got lots of yeast floating around in it. It pours with a white head that sticks around for just a little and leaves almost no lacing.
S - Smells very sweet and citrusy - orange and some lemon. It's malty, like bread. Kind of syrupy like it has molasses or brown sugar in there, but only a little. It's got some esters. It overall kinda smells like orange juice.
T - Quite sweet and full of citrus like orange and lemon, but with some grapefruit, too. It's a bit spicy and has some esters. It's got a dry champagne-like finish. As it warms, more malt comes through and it gets more bready, but the orange sweetness still dominates.
M - Quite effervescent, like thin bubbles that are very abundant - good carbonation. It's got a real champagne feel to it. The liquid itself feels heavy with yeast and malt.
D - Pretty refreshing overall. I could easily put back a few of these but it just kinda reminded me of orange juice.
It wasn't bad, but it's not my favorite witbier (that's still Walt Wit). I wouldn't be opposed to having this again, but I'll probably only go for this one in a line up of other Unibroues if it's especially hot out that day.
