Poured from large corked bottle into tulip. Pours a fantastic hazy golden slightly orange color with a finger of white head. Smells of perfect belgian yeast...sweet fruity apple and pear.
Taste is awesome. Sweet pear and apple belgian yeast...nicely spiced to balance. Wow really awesome.
Its a tad sweet but otherwise so pleasant and refreshing. Overall...its another amazing brew by unibroue. It just amazes me how good they are at such a low price and so widely available. This is a very under hyped triple imo. Go have one now.

Nearly clear golden yellow in the Gordon's thistle glass with an attractive foam. Big aromatics with the touch of phenols. Plenty of carbonation on the tongue.

Hot with alcohol even with the moderate alcohol content for a Tripel. Some spicy flavors and the drying sensation. Fruity but quite dry, in keeping with the advanced age of this stuff. "Best before" date is 08-02-14, so this has been around awhile. Some hints of pear and apple skins.

Quite drinkable, but at this drier end of the Belgian spectrum it gets a little sourish and funky in the aftertaste. From the bottle-capped 750 ml bottle purchased at Grapevine Liquor in Denver. Discounted to six bucks.

$ 9.99/bomber at Oppermanns Cork ‘N’ Ale
Best before 08-02-14 at 50 degrees into snifter
Aroma of spice and over ripe fruit
Head small (1.5 cm), white, fizzy, quickly gone, a partial 1 mm ring extant
Lacing – none
Body orange, hazy
Flavor – very little – a little spice and maybe a hint of fruity esters and yeasty phenolics. No alcohol, no hops, no malt (well balanced), no diacetyl. What flavor there is quickly ends.
Palate light to medium, watery, soft carbonation

Well, I hate to say it, but I’ve finally found a loser from Unibroue, at least to my tastes. Very watery and flavorless, although the 7.7% ABV is well hidden and has potential to sneak up and slam you. This gets a decent rating because it meets the definition of a tripel but I found it pretty flavorless.

Got this bottle in a gift set from the father-in-law, and just got around to drinking it now. It was about a month passed the "best by" date.

Typical tripel-esque appearance, slightly hazy golden-orange, with a good inch or so of frothy off-white head that sank to a thin layer, lacing the glass well. Powerful aroma full of fruity esters, medicinal phenols, spice. In the taste, overripe banana and peach, stale malts, harsh phenols, almost like a vodka spike, pepper and clove. Medium body, sticky, too much fusel/solventy booze for a "lower" ABV brew. I'm not a big fan of tripels to begin with, but I really couldn't get into this one at all, and as far as the style goes, I've had much better.

Unibroue's "other Tripel" is a pale, soft and heavily clouded bright light-medium golden yellow. The head is pure white, fluffy and cottony, and rests just taller than one finger with good stay and stick revealing itself in retention and on the walls of the glass as the beer subsides and light chunking, as it were, remains.
This beer is of essentially the exact same character in aroma and flavor, translating as completely as possible. A prominent but not overdone spiciness is revealed immediately and remains in this brew in its entirety. It's the kind of spicing one might find in a spice cake, but without heavy grains or dark malts, and with this beer's citrus overtones, is something else entirely. Lots of clove, a soft and powdery sweetness, and tangy lemon zest make for layers of developing aromas and flavors that make for a complex and fantastic overall character, all the better as all of the pear, banana, and apple notes make their way in.
Soft and fluffy but sweet, there's a light dryness that balances out the feel and there's lots of smoothness to this while a brisk crispness never falls back.

Pours a slightly hazy golden with a lingering, silky ivory head.

Belgian yeast esters of banana, clove, coriander, bruised apple, and pear are accented by soft citrus.

Notes of grapefruit underlie a slightly toasted bready malt backbone, accompanied by light confectioners sweetness. Banana is more subtle. Clove rounds out the aftertaste.

Body is moderate, with spritzy carbonation and modest alcohol warmth.

Citrus esters are a nice break from the bready malt backbone. The clove becomes a bit overwhelming.
