La Fin Du Monde
Unibroue
La Fin du Monde was developed through 18 months of research on a unique strain of yeast originating from Europe. It is brewed in honor of the intrepid European explorers who believed they had reached the “end of the world” when they discovered North America ‘the new world’. This triple-style golden ale recreates the style of beer originally developed in the Middle Ages by trappist monks for special occasions and as such it was the first of its kind to be brewed in North America.

Pours a bright, effervescent gold with plenty of carbonation running around and a beautiful, cloudy white head that pushed up well over two inches on the pour. Nice retention from the head and when it finally dissipates it leaves thick, foamy rings of lace draped all down the glass. A very inviting looking beer that got a few extra points from the head it put up.
The aroma, probably helped by the extra head La Fin put up, was also very enticing. A fruit basket of 'flavors' mixed with that distinct banana-clove spiciness is prevalent, as well as a bit of unidentified spiciness and some wheat scent that float in less assertively. Very fragrant, you can smell this beer as soon as you pop the top.
The flavor is good, just not as good as the nose or appearance. Similar banana-clove and wheaty fruit flavor to many other Belgians, but sweeter and less spicy on the tongue than some others I've tried. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a bit different. Still, a very tasty beer that isn't hard to drink at all.
I like the mouthfeel. Not thin or watery at all, it's on the slightly thicker side of medium and despite the carbonation present on the initial pour it's very smooth. The carbonation seems to counter some of the effects of the 9% ABV because there is absolutely no hint of alcohol during each draught.
Overall, this is a very drinkable beer. My whole bomber was gone in about 20 minutes. Sweet and slightly spicy with a smooth finish (and a looker to boot) this is definitely a beer to try and maybe one to make your Top Whatever list if you're a big Belgian fan. Good stuff, Canada.

Picked a can of this up from downtown grocery in Wausau, WI before heading home today. I was instantly drawn to the beautiful color of this can. The smell is really pleasant, but the taste really threw my off at first. To me, it initially tasted like green olives, but as I got used to it, it tasted more like a hefeweizen. Overall a really good, hard hitting beer that will sneak up on you.

Pours a bright orange - gold with lot of head and lacing, be ready with that glass! Tastes like funk (horse blanket), banana, clove, a little pepper, spicy, dry. Not quite as good as Westmalle but it’s a very good beer and the price is right, cheers!
