Brown bottle, silver foil, best by 03-16-08
Poured a cloudy pale yellow with lots of carbonation. 1/2 inch off-white head that fades to about a quarter inch and sticks around. Solid lacing.
The smell is strong alcohol, a little tinge of skunk. A bit of malt aroma.
Flavor is malty and spicy with a strong alcohol presence. Hints of clove and citrus.
Mouthfeel is punchy and astringent, but not harsh. The finish is clean.
This is very smooth for being a 9 percent ale. I'm reviewing outside my favorite styles to try something different. I expected to be disappointed but was pleasantly surprised.
