comes in a brown cork-finished 750 ml bottle. bottle dated "sept. 5, 2003".
almost pitch black, with a deep brown tinge around the bottom edge of the glass. bottle conditioned; a little cloudy when poured thinly.
aromas of warm dark sugar, brown malt and dark fruits (plums?).
taste is dark dry malt forward certainly; some phenols present. plums, licorice and a bit of sourness as well.
finishes with a tad of alcohol dryness, and those phenols again.
call me picky, but i'm concerned a bit about the phenols (and possible hangover effects).
it's a beer i'll try again in a few months. maybe it's just not aged long enough.
