750 mL bottle served in an oversized red wine glass to capture the aroma.
A: Very dark brown with mahogany hues; it poured with a medium tan head that died to a medium film.
S: Caramel with some dark chocolate and cranberry alcohol. The hops aroma is very mild, but it's present.
T: Caramel malts with a distinct cranberry-orange in the back of the mouth. The alcohol almost has a menthol character. The fruits linger.
M: Clean, frothy, and crisp.
D: I'll be finishing the rest of the bottle; it'd be worthwhile to order a couple pints in a row if I saw it on draft. It's surprisingly tame considering the high alcohol percentage.
Edit: Second tasting, 05/07/11--Head stuck better this time, aroma was floral with boozy raisin, flavor had a stronger molasses/brown sugar/honey sweetness with earthy green hops. Similar ratings.
