Again, Unibroue take its inspiration from the Belgians brews. And success at it. Don de dieu is a balanced bitter sweet strong pale ale... well worth the try

Look: Hazy Orange-ish yellow. LOADS of head. Seriously, no matter how controlled my pour was, the beer was super active and created so much head that my pour was a quite long process; although, pretty to look at.

Smell: Lots of spices you would expect in a tripel along with some fermented white grape and apricot -- not much else.

Taste: Follows suit with the smell. With more of the fruit in the front followed by the spices. Bready and a little sweet.

Mouthfeel: A little denser than I like for this flavor profile -- makes it feel a bit syrupy. The activity in the carbonation lead me to believe I'd feel it more than I did as well and becomes flat, almost watery in the finish.

O: Although not my ideal for its implied style, it's still a pretty tasty beer; although, I'm unsure if I'll have it again without some more age on it.

Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma has wheat and Belgian yeast esters. Taste is sweet and yeasty with wheat and lemon notes. Medium body with high effervescence. Not bad but it's really not my style of beer.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip.

a: Provencal orange body. Marvelously vibrant. Thin white lace given off the magnificent 2 finger fluffy beige head.

s: Lovely apricot jam aroma, green apple and pear, honey sweetness.

t: Up front fruity esters. Apricot, pear, grape and apple skin fades into delicate spice that mingles with the malts.

mf: Creamy medium heavy body, good carbonation. Nice dry wheaty finish with a bit of the alcohol coming through.

o: This is top tier. I have had this before but I have also ignored it at times in favor of Maudite and La Fin Du Monde. It is a testament to this brewery that something this good can be over looked in favor of the breweries other beers. World Class.

A: Pours a golden yellow color with 2+ fingers of head that slowly fades down to a nice cap

S: Lots of spice and fruitiness from the yeast up front, along with some light floral notes, some wheat, and overall general sweetness

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a mellow fruity sweetness, followed by light spices and floral notes. Goes into some very light wheat notes before finishing with more fruity sweetness

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Fine and bubbly

O: A very nice BSPA (classified as a triple wheat ale on their website) with a nice sweet overtone that pairs nicely with the fruity and spicy yeast. Very easy to drink, and potentially dangerous at 9%. Definitely worth giving this one a shot, especially at the price point

Honey-like golden yellow, clear at first but incredibly dulled by last part of pour, giving it marble-like swirls of fine sediment. Fine, whitish head. Small, goes down slowly, and lasts as film and legs. Boozy and peach-like aromas, not much else. Sweet but balanced to the taste, tart along the lines of both fruit and vinegar, spirit-boozy, white wine, bready, yeast-spicy. Peppery retro-olfaction. Medium to full bodied, soft but dense and thick effervescence. Definite alcohol burn on cheeks, sides of tongue, and nostrils.

12oz bottle poured into a Ballast Point Victory at Sea snifter glass.

The beer pours a hazy and bright copper color, gold hues when struck by the light with a foamy white head, about a finger high that has great retention and loads of lace. The aroma is nice, big yeasty banana and clove, spice, wheat with light alcohol warmth. The flavors are right in line with the nose, fruit, spice, grain, loads of yeast character, crisp wheat and assertive alcohol sharpness at the finish. The mouthfeel is nice, medium body, crisp carbonation, prickly body, very lively with a sharp finish.

Verdict: A nice Tripel from Unibroue, not my favorite style, but this is a well built beer. There is a bit too much alcohol and more yeast than I'd like, but overall a very nice beer to sip on.

Bottle to snifter. Look is hazy light orange. Smell is banana yeast esters and a touch of sour funk. Taste is a lot more of the smell. On first taste I would have described as a here on steroids, but subsequent sips are more peachy fruit but on the sour end. Feel is strong effervescent but the 9% is really well hidden. Overall not in my wheelhouse, but I can appreciate the style

Good looking hefeweizen style body. Wheaty goodness on the nose with some apricot and sweet Tripel style yeast. Unibroue beers have a uniqueness you cannot even compare to beers from Belgium, because it's arguably better. Pleasant scents. Undetectable alcohol. Slight cloves, apricots, banana with a golden style Belgian twinge to it. Medium bodied. An all-time classic.

12oz bottle, BB 04-23-18
A - effervescent golden body capped with a small-bubbled, creamy, white head
S - spicy and fruity yeast, wheat, alcohol
T - typical Unibroue yeast flavors with wheat, pale malt, peachy fruit flavors, quite sweet
M - medium body, effervescent, finishes spicy and semi-dry; alcohol is warming
O - overly sweet at times, but still very delicious. It's been awhile since I had this one, and it's always nice to come back around to the Unibroue collection. They're all high quality beers.

Cloudy golden pour with thin white head. Aroma is amazing - a mix of yeast, biscuit, candy apple, banana, and mild spice. Flavor is similar if not as remarkable, with nice balance of fruity esters, malty bread and slight sweetness. Finish is fairly clean with just a touch of slight dry/sour.

Look: It pours a cloudy pale orange color with a white, creamy head.

Smell: It has aromas of biscuit, toast, orange, pear, floral, and spices.

Taste: The initial flavors are of pears and oranges. It also has flavors of biscuit and toast. There is a bit of floral elements as well.

Feel: It has a medium feel and textures with a moderately bitter sweet finish with moderate carbonation. It does have a slight bit of alcohol warming, but not to the degree to suggest that it has a 9 ABV.

Overall: The flavors are balanced towards the fruity side and surprisingly easy drinking in spite of the alcohol content.

I have yet to have a beer from Unibroue that I didn't think was fantastic. This one may be the best. Fairly similar to La Fin Du Monde, but a bit bolder in its flavor profile.

A beautiful orange. Similar to a hefe in color but a bit more "burnt" and certainly less lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell is subtle but definitely lets you know you're drinking a Belgian-style beer. Nice yeasty banana notes. The flavor of this is just...wow. So incredibly well-rounded and smooth. It starts off with a prickly, champagne-like carbonation and mellows out mid-palate. Here, I start to get the pear, apple, banana, clove, some breadiness as it warms. At the tail end, I'm waiting for the bitterness or alcohol to come, but instead, it finishes incredibly silky. 9% ABV? I would've never guessed it.

I will definitely be picking this up again.

Look: Hazy gold with a couple fingers of creamy white head that settles fairly quickly.
Smell: Sweet fruity (banana pear apple) floral wheaty and yeasty, a bit boozy and spicy as well.
Taste: Very similar to the nose, sweet and fruity - not terribly complex
Feel: nice fine carbonation - the kind that opens up in the mouth.

Overall: An enjoyable belgian style ale. A bit on the sweet side but that is expected at 9% ABV. The wheat character comes out nicely both in the aroma/taste and mouthfeel. Pretty different from Duvel even though they are both considered belgian strong pale ales. Duvel has more of a Pilsner/Helles type malt profile, whereas this one is very wheaty. Maybe I expected some more complexity from the flavor, but it is still a very enjoyable after-dinner sort of beer.

Pours a clear straw, with golden highlights. Aromas of green apple, honey, and light malt. Taste begins with some more green apple jolly rancher, then some light caramel, and finishes with a hint of whisky, some funky yeast, and more tartness. Mouthfeel is good. Overall quite good.

This beer pours a hazy honey color with a magnificent head. The Aroma are of clove, cinnamon, banana, and apricot. The flavor lead with dried apricot, followed by banana bread and toffe. The mouthfeel is rather sticky and nice. Overall this is an enjoyable beer, but not quite what I am looking for. Still it is an impressive brew.

Corked 750 ml bottle. Hazy orange/yellow in color and the nose on it picks up faint aromas of bread, yeast, pair, white grapes, pineapple, banana. Not a heavy nose on this beer. Taste is lovely. Notes of pears, bread, apples, and pineapples. Good, crisp carbonation, and very refreshing. No detection of the 9% at all. This can get you in danger in a hurry if not careful. A lovely beer I treat myself to every blue moon.

Slightly boozy smell, a nice head that dissipates quickly. Smooth taste with a high degree of champagne like carbonation. A fine beer, but not one for daily consumption. Strong, pairs well with roasted nuts, roasted vegetables, baba ganoush.

L: Poured from a 750 mL into a tulip, pours a hazy orange color with a white head, about a half-finger's worth of foam, lacing does occur.

S: Raisins, Banana, and orange, bready malt, and some spice as well.

T: Sweet fruit-like taste on the nose, fades into a tart maltiness, finishes semi-dry

F: Medium bodied and high carbonation

O: An excellent wheat ale, reminds me of a Hefeweizen with a bit more of a punch. Obviously this is not as good as its brother "La Fin Du Monde", but still this is an excellent brew. Would have again.

Appearance: Hazy orange golden color with an enormous off white head that quickly dissipates

Smell: Caramel apple, white grapes, spices, clean yeast

Taste: Sweet apple/pear and white grape esters, slight clove, with a clean yeast finish

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied; Smooth and crisp

Overall: This is a nice beer no doubt. It has more fruit (apple/grape) esters than i prefer, but as usual with Unibroue beers, its clean and has the perfect amount of sweetness balanced with a clean yeast bill. I certainly prefer La Fin Du Monde and Trois Pistoles, but this is still very solid

Just in time with this one, as the bottle says drink by 8/15/15. I wonder how old that makes this bottle? I had a helluva time getting the cork off. Sheesh. 750 ml bottle into a Rochefort goblet.

Anyway...

A - A bright orange with an off-white head. Head dissipates quickly, with just a few bubbles sticking around on top. Definitely hazy with a few floaties. Eh.

N - Juice, orange or grapefruit. Not a strong aroma, but a delightful one. Cheers!

T - Interesting! Has that banana-type flavor you get in a tripel, and the wheat gives it a little bit of tartness. I don't love tripels, but I grew up drinking wheat beers, so I'm enjoying this one quite a bit.

M - If you let the beer sit in your mouth for a few seconds you get this creaminess or butter-y-ness. I see no streaming bubbles, but I get plenty of carbonation on the tongue. I well-made beer.

O - First Belgian style I've had in a while, and I definitely miss them. Unibroue never fails to impress, and this one is no different.
