Appearance: Amber color with a generous-sized, foamy light beige head that slowly faded.
Smell: Piney hop aromas dominate.
Taste:The pine aromas carry over to the taste. The finish ends fairly dry with some mild pine notes.
Mouth-feel: Medium body with a medium level of carbonation.
Overall: Good IPA but I didn't find it that much different from the standard Lagunitas IPA.

12oz bottle into a pint glass
A-golden dark yellow, almost pale yellow with a thin white suttle head.
S-citrus fruits, pine and loads of sweet almost clementine.
T- Hop bite on the tongue, very slight alcohol forward and aftertaste. Mildy sweet malt profile with tastes of biscuit and slight spice. Very subtle DIPA and extremely drinkable.
M-very light on the palate and great bitterness that lingers with a very mild alcohol taste. Very good in my opinion, a well-balanced DIPA.
Again another great showing of an IPA by Lagunitas. They have really grown on me, and this being my first Maximus I definitely would drink it again. It's not the smack-your-face hop attack that I like when really wanting a DIPA, but it's one where you can easily have 2 or 3 and really feel great about life!

Got this one from Dewey Beach Liquors in Dewey Beach, DE. $12.99 for a 6-pack of 12 oz. bottles. Not a bad price.
Look: The brew was a fairly clear deep golden color with a healthy head of beige foam that created some crazy lacing throughout the duration. Carbonation level was high with an aggressive storm of bubbles rising up. I wish I could have used my Duvel glass for this one but all our beach house had to offer was a DFH tumbler pint. I’m sure this beer would have been even more brilliant in the proper glassware.
Smell: Smooth pine and some sweet hints of orange sherbet; all made for a complex aroma that was very appropriate for a quality DIPA.
Taste: Upfront was a sweet resinous pine with some tangy orange peel. Notes of grapefruit along with a citrus sourness hit in the middle. The finish was a nice bitterness with the citrus hanging on. The aftertaste was more bitterness and a slight sweetness that seemed to carry through from the initial pine resin.
This is a very nice DIPA. The lack of a date code was disappointing. But judging by the satisfying and pungent palate the brew offered, I would guess this bottle was fairly fresh.
