A - Crystal clear deep copper body with a thick, sticky bone white head atop. 1.5 fingers of head hang around for a while and dissipate slowly.

S - Smells of lemon, grapefruit, orange and mango abound. A very fruity/citrusy IPA on the nose. Caramel malt hides in the background.

T - Not as bitter as I was expecting, but still a smack of frexh tangy hops. Fruity and tropical with some bitter pine resin on the finish.

M - Subtle carbonation yields a smooth and creamy body that doesn't over accentuate the hop bitterness.

O - Really solid IPA that would probably be considered much better if it were a limited release... I for one am grateful to have such a fantastic IPA on the shelves year round at a reasonable price.

Pours a clear amber gold color with an off white 1 finger frothy head that was full of bubbles and faded very slowly, leaving good foamy lacing and rings as it went down.

Big citrus notes up front, with grapefruit, citrus hops, lemon zest, orange, pineapple, piney hops/pine cones, sweet malt, caramel, grains, biscuit and light spices and/or herbs; a great smelling IPA that very well balanced and only let's peeks of the ABV show through.

Tastes like it smells, with grapefruit, citrus hops, lemon zest, orange, tangerine, pineapple, piney hops/pine cones, sweet malt, floral notes, grass, caramel, grains, biscuit or wet cracker, light spices like pepper and coriander, and herbs like tea leaf and a touch of brown sugar; the hops are herbal, floral and let the citrus flavors shine while dancing in step with the sweet malt and sugary components for exceptionally smooth balance at this level of strength (8.2% ABV). You can taste the alcohol, but it's faint and there are so many other flavors in play that it just blends in with the hops.

Mouthfeel is smooth and almost slick, with light carbonation, a medium body and a slightly bitter finish that trails off sweet with citrus hops and grains that almost leave your mouth dry.

Everything a DIPA should be: complex and tasty, hoppy and smooth enough to hide the ABV. High drinkability, I highly recommend this beer.

A: Pours a golden copper color with a fingers worth of frothy head

S: Big citrusy and spicy hops with a light peppery alcohol and solid malt backbone

T: Follows the nose, with a huge citrus fruitiness up front and solid maltiness that helps to hold everything up. Alcohol lends a slight spiciness, and is almost undetectable in terms of ethanol taste/burn. Not bitter at all except for maybe a quick burst at the very front

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very-well balanced DIPA that has very low bitterness for the style yet keeps all the hoppy goodness in the nose and flavor. Too easy to drink at 8.2%, so watch out

Poured into a snifter on 7/11/12

Deep, clear tangerine/orange hue. A two finger head falls quickly, leaving a thinner layer of soapy foam and some drippy lace.

The aroma is grapefruit, pine, sprinkles of lemon zest, doughy sugar cookie and sweet bread. An air of alcohol is present throughout. Tropical notes become more apparent as the beer warms.

Dank hop notes of bitter citrus and pine take hold of the palate. While there is a fair amount of hop grit, overall bitterness is kept in check. Malts are stronger than I prefer, but aren't too distracting because they have a dry cracker flavor as opposed to, say, caramel. Some alcohol, too.

The body isn't particularly heavy; the it's more of a medium feel than a full feel. That said, the oily hops mix with alcohol slickness making the perceived feel dense than it truly is. Carbonation is a hair on the low side of average; it's puffy.

I'm surprised the alcohol is as apparent as it is. Not too shabby overall, but a few tweaks in the appreciable alcohol department could make it considerably better.
