A - Copper red with 2 finger of head and nice sticky lace all over the glass all the way down!

S - Citrus hops dominate. Very hoppy. Excellent aroma

T - Grapefruit bitter hops up front, and then the citrus hops kick in. VERY well balanced. Very smooth.

M - Medium to full bodied. Highly carbonated. Kinda an oily aftertaste.

O - An excellent DIPA. I will be buying this one again and again

12oz. bottle poured into standard pint.

A- Poured with very little, perhaps 1/4" white head on top of a bright golden orange beer. Lacing persists. Slightly hazy, which I kind of like.

S- Strong tropical fruit aroma. Can sense the sweetness.  A little like candied orange, maybe pineapple.  Hint of pine as well.

T- Malt forward. Light caramel sweetness subduing the hops behind it. Call it syrupy hops.  A good dose of hop flavor and bitterness finishes to give balance, but to me it's a little muted for a DIPA. Even for a malty version, it's a little just overly sweet.  Not enough complexity.

M- Large bubbles, well carbonated. Has the right medium-full texture.

Not a favorite DIPA... And I love their regular IPA as well as Hop Stoopid.  One of my favorite styles so I'd have it again, but not a first choice.

Clear bright orange glow with lots of visible carbonation but a very thin lace of off white head. Big wet grapefruit hop nose with a slight caramel sweetness lingering somewhere underneath.

Big juicy mouthfeel with lots of tropical fruit and a slightly mint finish. Bitterness is slightly high. Some grassy notes on the finish as well. Flavors are concentrated and well blended but pungent. Nothing new really except a very harsh bite that builds. Worth a try, might be for you. I oddly found more balance on their regular ipa though. Malt backbone isn't as big as the nose leads it on to be. Slightly bigger than their regular ipa but not as big as it should be.

Thanks to Huhzubendah for sharing this bottle- Thanks Matt!

Pours an orange-ish color w/ a slight off white head. Average lacing on my snifter glass. The nose is mainly citrus, orange, grapefruit, and some hops. Fairly sweet, and very balanced. Taste is a little bit of a step up. Same profile as the nose, but better. Very little of the 8.2% ABV in the taste. A little on the sweet side, and I could use more hops bite... Still- it's solid. Feel is medium with a nice hops/malt thing happening. Average carbonation. Overall, a very nice DIPA- not world class, but a great accessible beer.

I poured this from a bomber into a shaker pint.

Apperance- The pour does not yield much foam at all. There is some slight fizzing and a white ring around the edge of the glass.

The body is a nice golden-copper with almost no carbonation crawling to the top.

Smell- Whoa! Was not expecting candied peaches or mango coming through. That is a sticky-sweet citrus bouquet, maybe almost too sweet! I am not getting much bite from the hops. No malt character is noticed either.

Taste- Peaches, pink grapefruit, mango, and some orange dominate this drink. And it is just as sweet as the nose led me to believe it was.

Honestly, this is like a mimosa with hop kick. And I do not care that I am not a mom sitting poolside at 9:30 in the morning. If there is any malt it gets buried under the very long and sweet, orange finish with a little pine kicked in for good measure.

Very memorable, and wholly original. Outstanding!

Mouth feel- It is a little watery, not really sticking to the cheeks. And it is not as medium bodied as some examples of the style have been.

However, it is a "smooth" drink that glides over the tongue, without becoming causitc, and that is important in an IPA.

Overall- This hop profile is outrageously appetizing. It is not like my own experience with IPA's have run the gamut, but as of now, this is the most original, straight citrus-fruity profile I have encountered. It totally makes the beer. If you are a hop head, give it a go.

Poured into an Evolution Brewing pint glass. No readable freshness date.

A- Pours a medium amber color with 3/4 of an inch of head that retains well, lowering only to a 1/4 inch of head that has splotchy bubbles on the surface and a considerable amount of lacing which gets better and better the emptier the glass gets.

S- Smells of pungent, grassy hops as per the signature Lagunitas aroma. A bit of grapefruit, orange, lemon. The whole citrus gang is there with maybe even a visit from lime who's usually the odd man out. Some malt sweetness in the background.

T- A bit more sharp unlike the Undercover Investigation, Lagunitas Sucks or standard Lagunitas IPA. This one leans more toward the Lucky 13 or Censored Ale as far as the overall profile goes. That being said, there's intense bitterness (as expected with an IBU of 72.41) that's surrounded by some malts and some alcohol bite in a complimentary fashion. Not much else, besides the aforementioned citrus notes.

M- Prickly due to the excessive amount of hops. Medium-high carbonation.

O- A little extreme for my tastes but I guess that's why it's called Maximus. Just have to be in the mood for a hop bomb.
