Um. Is everyone else reviewing a different beer? Weird.
It pours a deep clear black with whisky edges. A thin creamy head lingers.
Immediate roasty flavours blend in with coffee and fruity, sherrylike alcoholic warmth. A sturdy black bitterness fills in after the swallow. Long afterwards, hops aroma sneaks in for the finish. The mouthfeel is nice and rich without being gummy or syrupy. I'm finding loads of different angles to this beer as I get through the pint.
Maybe it's not the most life-altering mind-bending (guess we're calling it an "American double stout" these days) but I appreciate that it shows a bit of restraint. It's easy to just keep piling in the OG, but I'm glad to have a beer that I can drink easily.
