This was a tribue beer to the dearly departed hop variety "Eroica". Unfortunately I didn't get to try it until it was almost a year old. They took the last remaining eroics and tossed them in the boil, finish and dry hoppings. Not exactly a great beer but it was a great tribute. Like the bottle said, "It is like watching the last of a species die....then eating it." Lagunitas does great work and keeps the beer scene interesting to say the least.

This beer is a tribute to the infamous Eroica hop which is no longer being grown. I still have the bottle sitting on my desk. This beer is one of the reasons why Laguanitas is my favorite brewery. Sort of had a holiday ale taste. A bit of pine almost. It doesn't matter, because the beer as well as the hop variety is no longer in the world.
