12 oz poured into pint glass.
A: Color is clear dark gold. One finger head quickly dissipates into a thin film covering the top of the beer. Lacing is okay.
S: Smell is muted grass, hay, flowers, and a bit of citrus. The smell isn't really too strong.
T: Not too much going on with the taste. It's mostly bread and butter malts with a peak of crisp green apple and grass in the middle, then it fades into more bread. Aftertaste is practically non-existent.
M: Really easy drinking and creamy. This beer nails that aspect of the style.
O: Needs to be more bitter, cleaner, and a bit drier. The head is also more lacking than I'd prefer for the style. The color and mouthfeel is very nice, but the nose and taste need a bit of work. Overall decent beer, though.

A true lager by Lagunita's. Czech style pils hits all the right notes while maintaining Lagunita's trademark attitude. This is no weak beer. Anybody that thinks Lagers and Pil's are just pale yellow fizzy stuff. Cave!
This beer pours clear yellowish gold with amazing clarity. Huge carbonation bubbles rise to the top of the thin foamy head. There isn't so much lacing here but so what this beer is meant for drinking. The aromas are pleasant enough to not need muting.
This in your face Pils jumps right at me with a grainy Saaz hop aroma. Spicy and grassy. The malts are pretty sweet. I think there is almost a British style malt base to this, caramel and apple. Then come the stronger aromas, lemon zest, salty mineral water and light sulfur. Maybe there could be some finesse added to the finish but overall this beer rules.
My tongue is tickled by fruity cracker malts and grapefruit then sharp grassy hops that come sharp and bitter and linger for a bit. Very good.
The mouthfeel is light and grainy. Full flavored with a nice balance.
I would recommend this underrated beer by Lagunita's. It isn't the greatest Pils ever but it doesn't hit any off-notes. A tad rough but so what. It didn't eat my tongue up like the extremely dry "Jever". I will definitely be buying it this Spring to add to my rotation of Pil's.
