12 oz bottle into Wisconsin Micro Brewer's Beer Fest Mug.

A: Thin white head, with good retention. A clear pale golden body.

S: Slightly weak aroma, grassy, straw notes.

T: A bold and tangy start, with a dry and strong lingering finish. Subtle sweetness is also found.

M: Crisp and dry. Good lingering tastes.

D: Great taste, a solid brew that does the style justice. Another great one from Lagunitas.

I had my doubts about anyone making a czech pils and I think this doesn't have the softness you get from actual pilsners from the Czech republic. It didn't have it but it was very good. Light color but a bit more bitter, more like a German pilsner.

From: Premier Wine & Spirits

A: Pours a clear golden body with two fingers of white fluffy head. Head dissipates rather quickly and leaves the smallest lacing.

S: Grains, straw aromas, with some floral and malt at the end. Weak aromas over all.

T: Very faint taste of malts and grains. Very slight bitterness.

M: Light bodied and medium-high carbonation. Water like texture and leaves a grainy bitterness.

D: This doesn't do it for me. Over all it's pretty weak and bland.

A- Clear gold with a sticky white head.

S- Faint grass and mild floral hops; a little faint overall.

T- Bready malt with hay and grass. Clean floral hop presence, but it's a little on the weak side.

M- Medium body with a light carbonation.

D- Not a badly balanced beer, but the hop presence just didn't remind me of what a good Czech Pils should be.

Pours a nice gold color, with a thin crown of head. Visible carbonation. Minor lacing on the glass.

Some minor sweet malt scent, as well as some grain. Fairly typical pilsner aroma, though a bit subdued.

Some sweet taste up front, but followed by some rough bitterness. Eventually smooths out a bit as the beer warms up. Some hops and grain near the end. Bitterness lasts a bit after the swallow.

Once the bitterness mellows out, it is a fairly decent pils. However, it isn't really much better than the regular pils imports, and unfortunately costs me more. Probably won't be picking this up again locally.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: rich golden color with a thick finger of foamy white head and plenty of effervescence. A thin lace is left on the glass as I drink. Looks pretty refreshing!

Smell: very nice sweet malt aroma with just a hint of graininess. Hops are only just noticeable in the smell, but overall I think it presents a pretty good Pilsner aroma.

Taste: again, a nice sweet malt flavor (not cloying or anything, but not dry either). There's a bit of a grassy noble hop flavor, and the bitterness towards the end is quite nice. This is a highly enjoyable Pilsner.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a nice level of carbonation. It certainly works.

Drinkability: highly drinkable and refreshing in my book. I'm tired of the phrase "lawnmower beer", but this is definitely a good washing-my-car beer, or perhaps reading-on-the-patio beer.

Poured a golden color with a nice 2 finger head.. Tiny bubbles in the head.. Stuck around for a bit.

Smell: mild hops, little malty, bready, kind of metallic, yeast, kind of floral with spice notes

Taste: spicy, good malt backbone, hints of yeast.. Finishes smooth with a bite of hop, but nothing sharp.

Creamy mouth with decent carbonation..
Easy easy to drink.. Very sessionable..

Sight - darker gold, large, tight, white head

Smell - very yeasty, baked bread

Taste - very fruity, almost like jam, heavy butter

Sweet - 3/5
Bitter - 1.5

Reminded me in many ways of the lagers from Chyně, which while being well made and popular with many back in Prague, simply aren't my thing because of the hefty dose of diacetyl.

pours a light golden color with a good amount of carbonation bubbling up and a light white head that dissipates quickly

not a big smell coming from it--light bready character when i stick my nose right up next to it

balanced flavor with, again bread flavors come forward along with floral hops - aftertaste is most reminiscent of typical budjevar yeast flavors with that slightly funky stale bread flavors at the back of the mouth

very dry finish - light - medium bodied - goes down easy

tasty example of the style - could drink this all night

Appearance: Very clear. Like an American pilsner. A nice, medium blonde.

Smell: Smells like a homebrew. Slightly floral. Not powerful or pungent.

Taste: First and middle taste has a nice hop body. Some good substance for a pils. Does European pils justice.

Drinkability: A little strong -- wouldn't want more than about 2 in a night.

Lagunitas Pils, draft, 5.3%Abv. This beer was newly tapped and quite fresh.

A Big thick white head. Deep golden color and crystal clear. Head receeded, but continued to cover the beer all the way to the end of the glass.

S Nice fresh flowery noble hop Aroma. Just as a Czech pils should be.

T Malty, with sufficient hop bitterness to tip the balance toward the hops. Hops dominate, but are not harsh and are true to style.

M This a pale beer, with full flavor and medium body due to quality malt. Carbonation is a little high, but doesn't detract.

O Light colored beers are very difficult to make well because there is nowhere to hide errors. If you get a chance to try a good one, don't miss the opportunity. This is one of those beers. Highly recommend.

Appearance - Pours a relatively clear, light straw color reminiscent of almost a macro. Half a finger of head that quickly dissipates leaving light lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell - Hops, yeast, malt, and a generic pilsner smell.

Taste - An odd honey flavor up front followed by a slight bitter hoppy taste. Slight grass, malt, and caramel.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, decent carbonation, slightly bitter and dry finish.

Drinkability - Not a bad pilsner. Relatively easy to drink.

12oz bottle from ABC Fine Wines & Spirits in Daytona Beach, FL.

A: golden yellow body, amber tinge, quite dark for the style, two fingers of frothy, bright white head, stringy lace on the shaker.
S & T: bright and spicy Saaz hops, fresh cut grass, clean maltiness, moderately sweet, bold bitterness to end.
M: soft, prickly, thirst quenching, long herbal finish with strong, lasting IBU on the palate.
D: crushed a bottle in no time. Excellent example of a pilsner, lots of bitter hopping (rivals their IPA), drinkable session lager.

12 oz. bottle into a pilsner glass.

A- Clear, pale golden. Pours with a fluffy, white 2 finger head that settles down to less than a quarter of an inch. Very cool tornado of medium bubbled carbonation that stuck around for a bit after I first poured it.

S- Slightly sour. Grassy/floral hops. Very light.

T- Similar to the smell. Mild bitterness from the hops. Crisp with a light bitter finish. Very faint tangy apple at times.

M- Smooth. Light bodied leaning towards medium. Some light prickly carbonation. Refreshing, not dry.

D- Great after a hot day working in the yard. Smooth and refreshing. Well balanced, but underwhelming. I actually do like this beer, but I will probably try some other similar beers before picking this up again because it lacks anything very distinctive about it (other than being made by a great company).

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with lots of visible bubbles. Nice airy white head has great retention.

Smell: I'm really not getting much aroma off this. Perhaps a hint of grasses, but barely.

Taste: Nice malt taste with a light bit of citrus (lemon) and grasses. Lacks that "fresh-cut" grass taste, but still good. Some hops and bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Light- to medium-bodied (has some decent viscosity) and quite smooth. Noticeable but fairly light carbonation.

Drinkability: Pretty tasty, moderate ABV. Easy to drink.

A nice pis from the west coast. Not the best, but the only craft one I can find here and it is pretty good. A bit too much bitterness in the aftertatste, but, nevertheless, a good beer.

Poured into my trusty Pilsner glass

A - Clear golden color in the pour with a fluffy white head of about 2 fingers

S - A malty and sweet bread like aroma on my nose. Very malt forward profile with very little hop presence

T - Malt backbone would be the operative word. This beer has a very light and dry hop presence on the finish. This is a very smooth tasting beer that is a nice interpretation of traditional Pilsner beers.

M - Moderate carbonation with a light body to the beer.

D - Good session beer for the warm weather months and for those getting there feet wet on the craft beer scene.

A: Very clear, gold, fizzy, 2-finger head goes away fast, not much lacing. Looks like it should, really.

S: Wonderful light fruit with a nice strong dose of hops, grainy malt, not toasted or smoky.

T: Bready and has lots of great tangy light fruit behind it. Hops are out front and unashamed to make an appearance. Nice sweet flavor lasts through swallowing, leaving a great aftertaste. Well-done!

M: Rather astringent, makes you pucker. Nice carbonation. A bit creamier than I expected, with a medium body.

D: Goes down really smoothly. Astringence hinders the drinkability a little - even after several swigs I'm puckering after every one. Not bad at all for the style though.

Pours a clear straw color with a small white head that leaves enough lacing on the glass.

Smells of light citrus notes from hops.

Tastes of some honey, malty sweetness and citrus hops. Notes of lemon zest and the sweetness to cut it. Not much bitterness. Some butter notes also come through.

Mouthfeel is medium-light with an airy amount of carbonation.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. No best-before or brewing date.

A - very clear, light golden color. Moderate head that disappears after a couple minutes with a bit of lacing. Light carbonation.

S - nice balance of malts and that tell-tale hops with a sharp pils-edge.

T - not quite what I expected as it seemed to lack the edge I'd had in other Pils. More balanced, with less hops and more malt than I'd have expected.

M - light and easy to drink. No significant aftertaste.

D - very easy to drink, seductively so - as mentioned before missing that usual edge Pils will often have. Highly sessionable.

A good drink, but not exceptional. Not sure I'd get it again.

bottle to a pint glass-

Look: Light straw body with a nice foamy white head. Decent retention, no lacing.

Smell: Pleasant sweet citrus, malt

Taste: Sweet on the tongue, but a rush of mildly bitter hops takes over with grains following. Muted citrus and spices throughout. Aftertaste is bitter hops, more bitter than hop.

Feel: Light to medium body, plenty of carbonation.

Drink: Nice flavor and not very filling.

A - Pours a rich gold color that is brilliantly clear. A lot of carbonation bubbles rise up through this beer creating a frothy, rocky head that is initially four fingers thick but dissipates quickly. Fair lacing.

S - Aroma is grassy with hay and butter notes on the side. I get a hint of aromatic lemon & herb scents. Sweet grains are also there.

T - The taste is lightly sweet up front and fairly spritzy throughout from the ample carbonation. Bitterness dances above the sweetness and becomes stronger as the sweetness turns buttery.

M - Medium body with an oily texture. Long bitter finish.

D - This is one of my first pilseners, so it is hard to say how it fares against standards in the style. But I really like it and will drink it again.

Lagunitas showed up in Casper...yeah!

It pours a slightly hazy golden yellow colour with close to a 1 finger head of foam and there's some nice sheets of lacing.

The smell is nice with a good nose of some sweet malt and bit of grain and light note of bitterness.

The taste is delicious. There's plenty of malty sweetness along with grain and a a dryish bitterness that smacks of grass and orange zest. The flavours are nice and pretty bold for the style. I like.

On the edge of medium bodied...er..I'll say it is and it has medium carbonation.

Drinkability? A good drinking brew for me and one I'll enjoy when the warmer temps come my way.

A- Straw golden color that appears to be a very fizzy brew. About a one finger head that subdues with bubbling.

S- Slight hop aroma, smells a bit like yeast. Nothing out of the ordinary here, a very generic pilsner smell.

T- Malty with slight hop flavor and tiny bitterness towards end of taste, other than that, not much.

M- Quite a bit of carbonation. Very light bodied and refreshing to the mouth.

D- Very easy to drink, very drinkable. Typical pilsner style...

Overall, quite a nice pilsner, but lacked any quality that made it special. Very enjoyable and perfect for a summer day, but would have liked a bit more hop flavor and bitterness.

Poured from a bottle into a Shipyard Pumpkinhead (not the movie, the beer) pint glass.

A: Murky off-yellow/orange with a minimal head. Mild lacing.

S: Overly malty with a floral, doughy and honey hoppy character...is this a pils??? It smells like an APA.

T: Malty and hoppy at once. Tastes good. Again I ask though: why is this called a pils?

D: I'd have a few with no problem, but I think I might have gotten a bottle that sat too long.

Value: Lagunitas brews are worth the dough.

Pours medium gold with a good foamy white head, good lacing.

Somewhat muted grassiness, some green leafiness in the aroma, light malt.

Light malt, light bitter grain husk, some grassiness, and a long bitter dry finish. Very clean, distinct flavors. The bitterness is just that -- no pine, no citric rind, just bitter. Ok, but makes this one a bit harder to drink. Lighter mouthfeel and good carbonation, but not enough to get past the overwhelming bitterness. Overall, not something that I could knock back, beer after beer. One, yes; two, probably. Three? No chance. A very decent beer, but not quite my cup of tea/beer.
